ASH WEDNESDAY: We will be joining members of the Anglican communities of New Plymouth in an ecumenical celebration (with distribution of ashes) on Ash Wednesday. Please join us all at 7.30pm Wednesday 1 March at St Mary’s (Peace Hall) Vivian Street NP. FIRST RECONCILIATION: We begin preparation for First Reconciliation at St Joseph’s Church in early March 2017. In this class we are trialling a new format. Preparation for Reconciliation is going to take place at St Joseph’s church after the 8.30am Mass and before the 10.30am Mass. (So families are able to attend either Mass). The programme will take place over three Sundays and the Sacrament will be celebrated at the end of March. The programme is for those 7 years and older. For those who are intermediate and secondary school students, or adults please contact the Parish Office 06 757-3682 as there may be other options available. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: All over the world, Friday 3 March, women are joining for a day of prayer. In New Plymouth churches have joined together to lead the World Day of Prayer Services. There are two services in New Plymouth. St Joseph’s Church Powderham Street, 10.00am Friday 3 March and at Our Lady Help of Christians, also 10.00am 3 March. Please join us for a time of prayer and fellowship. Everyone is welcome. ST JOSEPH’S YOUTH MASS: Sunday 26 February 5.30pm. STUDENTS IN PALMERSTON NORTH: Nick Wilson has been appointed by Bishop Charles, as the Tertiary and Young Adult Chaplain for Palmerston North. So any tertiary students, who have moved from secondary school to tertiary life in Palmerston North, contact Nick if you would like to meet him and be supported on your faith journey while you are in PN. The group offers a number of opportunities for fellowship, community, welcome, retreats, and social events and so on! ICPE MINISTRY: Are you interested in ICPE (Institute for World Evangelisation) visiting the parish this year? ICPE have visited St Joseph’s and Our Lady Help of Christians several times over the years. For ICPE to visit, we need to know that parishioners are interested and happy to help with accommodation and hospitality. Please contact the Parish Office 757-3682. HOSPITALITY MINISTRY AND CATHOLIC CAFÉ: Plans for the Catholic café at St Joseph’s are going forward. We are calling for volunteers to provide light refreshments, to help operate the café, to meet and greet new comers (and provide them with relevant information) and to meet and greet all parishioners, no matter the length of time they have been in the parish. All you need to be a volunteer is to take your place on a roster at your nominated Mass time and be friendly and welcoming as you pour the coffee or serve, (or perhaps just make) the food. If you are interested in becoming involved in any capacity please contact the Parish Office 757-3682 or email [email protected] Catholic Cafe –Anyone who is interested in volunteering for the Catholic Cafe, or would like to know more, is cordially invited to a meeting at 5.00pm Wednesday 22 February in the Church Hall Supper Room. ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY: Our Lady Help of Christians Conference meeting in Our Lady Help of Christians Church House at 5.00pm tomorrow (Monday). St Joseph’s Conference now meets only first Wednesday of the month in St Joseph’s church house. St Vincent de Paul Society: A week is a long time. We have had an amazing demand and our garage is virtually empty. We would welcome beds - single and double, lounge suites, dining table and chairs, chest of drawers, bed linen and blankets, cutlery and kitchen crockery utensils. Please no stained or torn mattresses. If you can help please phone Bob 929 3060 TUESDAY GOSPEL READINGS GROUP meets at St Joseph’s church house Tuesday 10.00am. Come in and prepare for Sunday Mass by studying the gospel. CARITAS LENTEN DISCUSSION: - The Parish’s 6 week Caritas Lenten Reflection programme starts Tuesday 7 March at 10.30am at St. Joseph’s church house. Evening sessions will be held if there is a demand. We are invited to an ongoing face to face encounter with Christ and with other people. Seeing Christ in the faces of those we encounter helps us to see how God is at work in our lives each day. If you are interested in participating or would like to know more please contact the Parish Office. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE PRAYER VIGILS: Peaceful prayerful vigils to support abortion vulnerable women and to pray for an end to abortion will be held in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch this Lent 1st March to the 9th of April. These will be running 12 hours a day for 40 consecutive days. You and your families are invited to participate in these if at all possible, but for those who cannot attend,
