Why Worship? “Going to church is not about meeting our needs. It is about pleasing God who meets our needs every minute of every day.” (“From Surviving to Thriving by Rev. John Krahn)

Let’s say someone were to give Bethel a large amount of money that had to be spent in this way. Every week for a month each person who attended your church would receive a brand new $100 bill? Does anyone question that attendance would increase? I bet people would go to two services each Sunday. By the end of the month, when word got out all over Windsor, there would be standing room only. People might even miss soccer practice to be there! Yet, every Sunday God gifts us with something infinitely greater than a mere Ben Franklin. We are given Jesus’ body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins and the blessings of eternal life. (Not to mention an awesome sermon!) Why would we want to miss this weekly gift? Why would we miss the chance to please a God who has given us so much? I love it when I see you at worship! You are a blessing to me, Bethel and mostly to God. Love in Jesus, Pastor Dave

Prayers needed for our area youth! Please hold our area youth in prayers for peace and understanding. Consider becoming an adult mentor in partnership with one of our Bethel youth. We are putting together mentors for our Peer Ministry Leadership team (HS), confirmation (small group leaders), and individual mentors to meet and pray for and with a youth. Talk with Shavonne to volunteer. Our children need our prayers, listening ears, relationships and resources. For a coffee date once a month and conversations, you can make a difference!

Lutheran Campus Ministry

NEWS from Lutheran Campus Ministry Why does campus ministry matter? UNC student Sarah Krohn shared in a recent sermon, “I became a part of a community at campus ministry. Without it, and the love of Christ that I have witnessed through my fellow members of campus ministry, I don’t think that my faith would be what it is today. I have witnessed the love of the Lord and felt his presence during our Sunday night dinners and worships, in the middle of our weekly Bible study, when offering service to the community through service projects, and during the uplifting weekend retreats every semester to both Sky Ranch and Rainbow Trail.” Thank you for your support for campus ministry and our students, faculty and staff! BLAST OFF FOR BOOKS GATHERING CAMPAIGN

As part of the ELCA Youth Gathering, special In-kind offering, that supports unique mission and values of the ELCA and that Gathering are

held up. Blast off for Books recognizes the need to

lift-up literacy in Houston. Building a foundation of literacy starts before entering Kindergarten. Students who read at home become strong writers, critical thinkers, and more successful students than those who do not. Houston Independent School District estimates that 74% of the

students in the district come from families who struggle to provide books for their children. This means the students begin each school year at a disadvantage. In joining the Gathering's Blast Off for Books campaign, you will help ensure bright futures for Houston’s students. The books you donate will be distributed at community book fairs, camps and other events around the city as part of the Gathering’s Service Learning experience. By putting books in the hands of Houston’s economically disadvantaged students, you can help change lives. Please see the enclosed flyer with the Amazon Wish List for a list of books being collected for the children of Houston. Note that only these books (new or lightly used) will be accepted. If you would like to donate for the youth to purchase books, just write Houston Books in check memo line. If you want to order and ship books to Houston in advance, please send to:
