Administrator’s Notes

Each year, Concord students are encouraged to find a service opportunity to help others in need. Part of our Concord Creed for the months of November and December are unselfishness and generosity. We look for opportunities to practice these character traits, both to recognize them in others,  and find them in ourselves.

Earlier this year, CAB Elementary students chose to make Christmas cards to brighten the holidays for a certain Air Force troop. The troop is led by Ms. Theile's brother, Master Sargent (MS AF) Jamie Heinzelman. They are stationed in Kuwait, where they are completing an additional 6 month tour. While many supplies are provided, it's not the same as having some of the items that they are used to from home. To make their Christmas a little more home-like, CAB 4th and 5th graders began to collect goods that they could receive, and it quickly became a school-wide effort.

Parents, staff, and students brought in items from a "wish list" provided by the men, and were able to ship 5 large boxes of Tim Horton's coffee, popcorn, crackers, granola and protein bars, pretzels, and other snacks to them. K-5 students also made Christmas cards, wrote letters, and drew pictures for the troops, to remind them that they and their service are appreciated, and to wish them a Merry Christmas!

Through this service project, students were able to experience how the character traits in the Creed relate to everyday life, as well as thank a group of military officers for their service.

T LENT?

We are still collecting Family Fare Supermarkets and D&W receipts to help raise money for new bottle-filling drinking fountains. Receipts can be dropped off in our Direct Your Dollars box, located in the lobby at the entrance to our building. Thank you for your continued support!

Save Those Receipts!

Isn’t it a pain-in-the-neck to gather all your refundable pop bottles and cans, lug them to the store, and get all sticky and gross for just a few bucks? Instead, help your Senior

Class raise money for a local charity called JUST CATS. Gather your refundable pop cans and bottles and drop them off at CAB. Just Cats will pick up the cans and bottles and use the refunds to spay and neuter stray cats and kittens in Charlevoix County. NHS and NJHS students will earn volunteer hours by sorting the bottles and cans for Just Cats. If you have refundable bottles and cans other than Pop Bottles and Cans, Just

Cats will be happy to pick them up from your home ☺ call Just Cats at 231-674-5261 for pick up and to answer any questions you have. Thank

you for helping your Senior Class help Just Cats save furry lives ☺

Sincerely,

JUST CAts

It’s that time of year again. Time for kids (and some parents) to start waking up early so they can watch the news and listen to the radio in the hopes that they will hear their school’s name among those on the list of School Closings. In the event that we do not have school, we will notify the following TV and Radio Stations:

Radio: 1270 AM 106 FM 92.1 FM 1340 AM 96.3 FM 90.5 FM
