Wikipedia Definition

M-learning is the term given to the delivery

of training by means of mobile devices such

as Mobile Phones, PDAs and digital audio

players, as well as digital cameras and voice

recorders, pen scanners etc. M-learners are

seeking lessons in small, manageable

formats that they can undertake when it

suits them.

The market is growing at a five-year annual compound growth rate

(CAGR) of 22.3% and will top $649 million in 2008

Private equity and venture capital investment in Mobile Learning

All the major education publishers are now selling content in

mobile formats

Ambient Insight’s 2008-2013 US Mobile Learning Market Research: Key Findings

Source: “The US Market for Mobile Learning Products and Services: 2008-2013 Forecast and Analysis,” Ambient Insight, LLC

Key Findings: Mobile Learning Goes Mainstream

Mobile Learning tools and platforms were very scarce two years

ago, but there are now dozens of new technology products

Second-generation Device-embedded Learning products are now

on the market

As of 2008, there is wide adoption across all eight buyer segments

with higher education, consumer, and healthcare leading the way

By 2013, healthcare will be the top buyer segment followed by

consumer and corporate

The second-generation Handheld Decision Support products being

marketed to healthcare buyers are particularly sophisticated

Clearly, the “market creation phase” of Mobile Learning is over and

the demand is now mainstream
