How to Join THE GREEN TEAM
You‛re Invited to JoinTHE GREEN TEAM
Why Should Our Class Join THE GREEN TEAM?
• Help the environment! By recycling, composting and reducing pollution, we help conserve natural resources, preserve open space, keep our air and water clean, and slow climate change.
• Receive educational materials! Your class will receive a poster, achievement stickers, lesson plans and other resources.
• Use GREEN TEAM activities to teach skills tested on the MCAS! Lesson plans and activities are aligned with Massachusetts Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks for “Science and Technology/Engineering,” “Mathematics,” “English Language Arts,” and “History and Social Science.”
• Win great awards! Each participating class receives a Certificate of Recognition, student prizes and entry into a drawing for grand prizes such as a schoolwide show by an environmental “edu-tainer.”
• Get free recycling equipment! Eligible classes may receive recycling bins, toters, compost bins and worm vouchers.
• Enjoy special library privileges! THE GREEN TEAM Library offers videos, DVDs, books, curricula and recycling activity kits to GREEN TEAM members.
• Build team spirit! Use THE GREEN TEAM database to share information with other teachers.
THE GREEN TEAM is an interactive educational program that empowers students and teachers to help the environment and slow climate change through waste reduction, recycling, composting, pollution prevention, and energy conservation.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection provides resources to help GREEN TEAM members learn how to reduce pollution and rewards classes that successfully complete one or more of the suggested activities.
What is THE GREEN TEAM? 1. Complete and submit THE GREEN TEAM registration form by fax, mail or on-line at www.thegreenteam.org.
2. Once you have registered you will receive a GREEN TEAM kit containing instructions, a poster, GREEN TEAM achievement stickers, lesson plans and other materials.
