Hi Folks.

Another GREAT weekend of concerts here at Nighttown.

On Wednesday, check out the best of San Francisco when TheLucky Losers makes a stop at Nighttown. This group is verypopular on the west coast. It's a great mix of soul and rootsmusic. On Stephen's Green all-season patio.

On Thursday, it's legendary folk singer/songwriter, JohnMcCutcheon. Tickets are on the verge of selling out, so don'twait.

On Friday, it's two of theall-time greatest harmonica

players, Corky Siegel and Howard Levy. Corky is well knowfor his years with the Siegel-Schwall Band from the 60's and70's. And Howard has been world renown for the last twentyplus years and has played extensively with Bella Fleck. Theyboth are coming in from Chicago.

On Saturday, Israeli and NYC resident Dan Pugach, brings his nine piece Nonet. The group hasbeen praised by the media and fellow international level jazz artists. It's an all NYC group, so themusicianship will be extremely high.

Nighttown Student Discount PolicyStudents up to age 26 are 1/2 off the regular price. The Lucky Losers are a five-piece band from San Francisco headed up by vocalistCathy Lemons and vocalist/ harmonica player Phil Berkowitz. Their music is athrowback to the hybrid of soul, blues, rock, gospel, and country that emerged in thelate 1960’s - with gorgeous harmonies reminiscent of Delaney and Bonnie. Since theband’s formation in 2014, The Lucky Losers have released two chart topping albumsproduced at award-winning Greaseland Studios with Kid Andersen. Their first album “AWinning Hand” made the Roots Music Report’s “Top Blues Albums of 2015,” and their2nd Album, "In Any Town," was nominated in for 5 awards, 2 of which wereIndependent Blues Awards. Their 3rd Greaseland album “Blind Spot,” is scheduled forrelease May 18 2018. In support of the album, The Lucky Losers embark on a 15state/25 venue tour through the South-west, Midwest and South in April and May of2018.

Cathy Lemons (vocals) originally from Dallas, TX, has been described as “the finestlight skinned blues singer in the U.S.!” by Real Blues. Cathy has mesmerized audiencesfor over 25 years and has performed with some of the great names in blues, includingAnson Funderburg, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, and Tommy Castro (TommyCastro is on two of Cathy's Albums). She has three albums to her credit.

Phil Berkowitz (vocals/harmonica) has been described as a “Top-flight bluessinger/harmonica player” (San Jose Mercury News). Phil has brought his energetic andrefined musical style to American audiences for over 20 years. Phil has produced 2critically acclaimed albums, “Louis’ Blues”/2005 and “All Night Party”/2009. Phil hascollaborated with a range of premiere musicians, such as 2011 International BluesChallenge (IBC) winner Sean Carney, 2014 IBC winner for “Best Guitar” Ben Rice, DukeRobillard, Billy Branch, and most notable, Charles Brown’s former bandleader andguitarist, Danny Caron.

Ian Lamson (electric, acoustic, & slide guitar) has been a professional musiciansince 1995. Ian has performed with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, GeorgeThorogood, Steve Miller, Robben Ford, Chris Cain, Sista Monica, Zydeco Flames, AngelaStrehli, Paula Harris, Natasha James, and now The Lucky Losers.

Jon Otis (drums) is the son of the great Johnny Otis. Some of the highlights of hiscareer have been sharing the stage with his father, Johnny, and his brothers Nick andShuggie. Most recently Jon and his famous family toured Europe and performed at TheMontreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and The North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland.

Robby Yamilov (bass) is still in his early twenties but has already performed withpopular Bay Area greats such as Aki Kumar and Kid Andersen.

Singer/Songwriter & Folk Music Legend returns to Nighttown! Back by popular

John McCutcheon is one of folk music’s great living storytellers. Revered aroundthe world for his thoughtful and inspiring songwriting and mastery of thehammered dulcimer, John McCutcheon’s career spans over twenty albums andseven Grammy nominations.

Wisconsin native John McCutcheon is an American folk music singer and multi-instrumentalist who has produced 34 albums since the 1970s.He is regarded as amaster of the hammered dulcimer, and is also proficient on many otherinstruments including guitar, banjo, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, fiddle, andjawharp.

McCutcheon, whose family background encompasses farmers and shoemakers,started playing guitar in the early 60s. He picked up a great number of traditionalAmerican songs and tunes from the Appalachians, and learned a wealth ofinstruments, including fiddle, banjo, autoharp and, most notably, the hammer-dulcimer. His playing of the latter encompasses folk, classical, jazz and many otherelements. McCutcheon's extensive recording legacy has attracted a string ofawards, and also seven Grammy nominations. He has recorded exclusively forRounder Records since the early 80s. Howjadoo was the first of several children'salbums which have established McCutcheon as arguably the leading artist withinthe genre. In the 90s his children's recordings included the Grammy-nominatedFour Seasons series, which featured many compositions co-written with long-timefriend and collaborator, Si Kahn. McCutcheon has also collected and recorded agood deal of Nicaraguan music, which was released by Rounder as a double album,Nicaragua Presente!, in 1989. McCutcheon's prolific work rate has includedproduction work for several other folk artists, and he has also had publishedsongbooks and instructional materials.

Corky Siegel is known internationally as one of the world’s great blues harmonicaplayers, and is a celebrated composer, blues pianist, singer, songwriter, band leaderand author.

Born in Chicago in 1943, Corky’s professional music career began when he foundedthe now legendary Siegel-Schwall Band in Chicago in 1964 with guitarist JimSchwall. The group was a major component of the young generation of white bluesartists—also including Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musselwhite, Harvey Mandel, BarryGoldberg, Nick Gravenites and Michael Bloomfield—who learned the historic Chicagoblues style at the feet and hands of such towering figures as Muddy Waters, Howlin’Wolf, Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy and Sam Lay.

Corky played with all these greats at Siegel-Schwall’s first steady engagement, in1965 at Peppers, Chicago’s internationally renowned blues club. They were soonsigned to Vanguard Records, with blues luminary Samuel Charters producing. Theirfirst album, The Siegel-Schwall Band, was released in 1966, and with it the groupmade San Francisco a virtual second home: There the likes of Janis Joplin, Santana,Steve Miller and Joni Mitchell opened for them (Siegel-Schwall actually producedMitchell’s demo tape); the band would record three more classic albums forVanguard up through 1970, then five for Wooden Nickel/RCA through 1974 beforegoing on hiatus.

After releasing three solo albums, Corky founded Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues,featuring himself on harmonica, piano and vocals, the West End String Quartet oftopflight Chicago classical string players, and Frank Donaldson on world percussioninstruments. The novel ensemble performed Siegel’s pioneering blues/classicalmusic compositions and released its first album, Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues, onChicago’s famed blues label Alligator Records in 1994.

Howard Levy is equally at home in Jazz, Classical music, Rock, Folk, Latin, andWorld Music, he brings a fresh lyrical approach to whatever he plays.

Howard Levy is a musician without limits. Composer, Grammy Award winner, multi-instrumentalist, he is best known for his astonishing harmonica playing, which hasearned him the admiration of audiences worldwide. This has made him a favoriteand a recording artist sought after by the likes of The Flecktones, Kenny Loggins,Dolly Parton, Rabih Abou Khalil, and Paquito D, Rivera, Styx, Donald Fagen, andPaul Simon.

All About Jazz says, “Levy’s harmonica playing is startlingly fluid and full of thetechnical prowess that would be expected from the genre’s top saxophonists, notfrom an instrument that is often associated with campfire cowboys and Mississippibluesmen…These musicians have come together to prove, once again, that it’s notnecessary to only look to New York for the best in American jazz.”

Jessica Lee is an American jazz & blues vocalist, songwriter (ASCAP) and recordingartist, born in Manassas, VA. Lee’s vocals reflect the influence of classic jazz, blues,rhythm & blues and gospel, but always with a heavy emphasis on the blues. Hermusical motto is to study and perform “something old, something new, somethingborrowed . . . but always blue.”

Lee performs at jazz and blues clubs, music festivals, charitable and private events,universities and concert halls throughout the U.S. She has performed at legendaryclubs such as Antone’s in Austin, Texas and is featured frequently at majorcharitable events. For example, Jessica was the featured jazz & blues singer toperform a live, nationally-broadcasted concert benefiting the Make-a-Wish-Foundation from the WQED TV Studios in Pittsburgh and has also been a featuredsinger for the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure and other major charity events. In2011-12, record label EQ Music selected three of Jessica’s recorded songs from her“Bluebird Fly” album for inclusion in three compilation albums, including two intheir “Greatest Audiophile Voices” album series and one in “The Best Pop Jazz”album for international distribution. Since then, EQ Music has selected four more ofLee’s recorded songs to feature on four new international vocal compilation CDs,including “When Blues Meets Jazz,” and represents her solo albums internationally.

Also a social entrepreneur and educator, Lee has focused much of herentrepreneurial energy on several high-profile initiatives in collaboration with thenonprofit Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation, including co-founding the America’sArts & Music Crossroads Center which connects professional artists and musicianswith underprivileged youth for creativity and career coaching; co-founding a jazzand American music camp series for at-risk youth with the Afro American MusicInstitute’s James Johnson, Ph.D. and trumpeter/educator Sean Jones; the savingand renovation of the legendary Crawford Grill jazz club in Pittsburgh’s historic HillDistrict with Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris and a team of social investors;and various other educational, career and entrepreneurial ventures which aredesigned to “pass on” the American Music and creative art forms to the nextgeneration, with a special emphasis on serving youth in at-risk situations andcommunities.

Mark Strickland has been playing guitar since 1964. He has performed with variousmusical units throughout the Pittsburgh Area, including legendary jazz organist GeneLudwig, Roger Humphries & R H Factor Band, and many more. In the summer of 2011he played with international drummer/singer Grady Tate. Mark performed on the 2011release of Gene Ludwig’s last CD, “Love Notes”, a tribute to Cole Porter.

Acclaimed guitarist and composer Daniel Bruce will be guest soloist with theUniversity School 1:00 Jazz Ensemble and Combo. He leads groups of variousgenres that have performed in the top jazz venues in the Midwest. Bruce hasplayed with Seamus Blake, Ali Jackson, Dan Wall, Bobby Selvaggio, Greg Bandy,Lynn Seaton and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra; he has also played in pit orchestrasat Playhouse Square. An encounter with singer Ki Allen is nothing less than extraordinary! She has theuncanny ability to charm a young audience and at the same time surpriseaficionados. Whether a jazz or blues enthusiast, Allen will always show yousomething new about the music you love.

Allen constantly challenges herself. Her repertoire is ever expanding and herphrasing ever illuminating.Through her performances in concerts, television, radio, and night clubs, Allen hasdeveloped a broad array of devoted fans.

Richie Cole started playing altosaxophone when he was 10 years oldin his home town of Trenton, NewJersey. Influenced by Sonny Rollinsand Charlie Parker, Cole’s talent anddedication won him a full scholarshipfrom Downbeat Magazine to theBerklee School of Music in Boston.

His professional career began in 1969when he joined the Buddy Rich BigBand. And after stints with the Lionel

Hampton Big Band and the Doc Severinsen Big Band, Cole formed his own quintetand toured worldwide, doing a great deal to popularize bebop and his own “AltoMadness” style in the 70’s and early 80’s.

Cole has performed and recorded with the great vocalese artist Eddie Jefferson, theManhattan Transfer, Bobby Enriquez, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Stitt, Art Pepper,Tom Waits, Boots Randolph, and Nancy Wilson, to name just a few of his musicalcollaborations. Notably, Cole has performed at the Village Vanguard and CarnegieHall as well as gave a command performance for the Queen of England.

Cole has recorded over 50 albums and CDs, including his top hit album “HollywoodMadness” (1979 Muse Records) and his tribute album to Leonard Bernstein, “RichieCole Plays West Side Story” (1997 Music Masters Jazz). A prolific composer, Colealso finds time to arrange for full big bands, symphony orchestras and frequentperformances at jazz festivals worldwide. Moreover, he enjoys sharing his love ofmusic with younger generations and is active recording, touring and presentinguniversity master classes.

Pianist-singer-songwriter Judith Owen is known for her love of musical variety andmelding it into a great stylistic gumbo all her own. ‘Somebody’s Child’ is theculmination of this mix: voice and piano front and centre, songs that are vignettesof life crafted from the perspective that we ARE all “somebody’s child” – parental aswell as planetary. Whereas 2014’s critically-acclaimed ‘Ebb & Flow’ was personal and very much a loveletter to Laurel Canyon, ‘Somebody’s Child’ takes a leap from the confessional tothe observational, whilst recruiting the same crème de la crème of Los Angelessession musicians – bassist Leland Sklar, guitarist Waddy Wachtel and drummerRussell Kunkel – and incorporating them with her British-based musicians – masterpercussionist Pedro Segundo and sublime cellist Gabriella Swallow.

‘Ebb & Flow’ was when many discovered Judith’s highly seductive sound and washailed as one of the releases of 2014 by The Independent newspaper in the UK,receiving further praise from Rolling Stone in Germany and the Wall Street Journalin the US.

Recording with Kunkel, Sklar and Wachtel, studio stalwarts behind Carole King, JoniMitchell, Jackson Browne, Laura Nyro among others, and touring with them “servedas this incredible calling card for me. I waited a long time to be able to work withsome of my musical idols. I’m a late bloomer,” she admits.

Leland Sklar has been a prominent figure among Hollywood session bassistsdating back to the 1970s and ever since. Sklar has more than 2000 albums to hiscredit (and still counting), and is considered to be one of the "A" players in thehighly selective L.A. rock music community where the competition for recordingdates is fierce, and where only the strongest will survive. His very recognizable bassplaying style has been heard on hits by Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Hall & Oates,Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, Clint Black, Reba McEntire, and George Strait, toname just a few. And never one to remain idle, Sklar has entered the newmillennium with a vengeance, taking on new projects with Willie Nelson, StevenCurtis Chapman, Nils Lofgren, Lisa Loeb, and many more.

He has played on TV shows such as Hill Street Blues, Knight Rider, Simon andSimon, and also on many motion pictures, including Forrest Gump, Ghost,Kindergarten Cop, and My Best Friend's Wedding. The list is virtually endless.

It was toward the end of the '60s that Sklar met James Taylor and they starteddoing some gigs. They thought they might be playing together for about a month,but then Taylor's "Fire and Rain" became a huge hit record and Sklar's career beganto gain steam.

Jackie Warren is one of the most in demand and prolific jazz artists working in theGreat Lakes region. On any given night she can be found playing solo, leading hertrio, or she may be heard as the featured soloist and arranger for Sammy DeLeon'sSalsa and Latin-Jazz ensemble.

Jackie is also a professor of music at Tri-C and has several private students. Jackiegets calls constantly from vocalists who want her to back them, and she isfrequently called on to guest with national artists. In the past few years Jackie hasperformed with David "Fathead" Newman, Bobby Watson, Jane Bunnett, and GeraldWilson. Jazz impresario Todd Barkan's name is inextricably associatedwith one of the nation’s legendary jazz clubs: the KeystoneKorner, a San Francisco venue he had opened in 1972 and thenmanaged for more than a decade. While that alone would makehim a significant figure in the jazz world, he also worked as arecord producer, for labels such as Fantasy/Milestone, Concord,32 Records, and HighNote. .

To date, Barkan has produced hundreds of recordings, including artists such asTommy Flanagan, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Hank Jones, and JimmyScott. Barkan continues to work as a lecturer, record producer, and curator of livejazz events.

Abe LaMarca

Northern soul music has been the driving and motivating musical force behind thispowerful vocalist since he was a teenager growing up in Cleveland Ohio in the late60’s. He has recently returned back home after living and performing in Las Vegas.

Abe LaMarca is also a proud member of the highly respected stable of singers andmusicians often referred to as the “Crown Jewel” of Las Vegas, Santa Fe and TheFat City Horns.

Abe grew up on a steady diet of sophisticated soul and jazz music well beyond hisyears. He was influenced by Dinah Washington, Jackie Wilson, Dave Brubeck andLittle Richard to name a few. The height of his young career as a local singer wasto land a huge gig with one of Cleveland's most memorable horn bands, Rastus. Itwas at this time he was schooled by these older and hipper cats, most of all, tenorsax player, Vic Walkuski. "Whenever you started to feel cool and cocky about howgood you were, Vic would pull out some obscure soul record with these amazingsingers to knock you back down to earth. Most notable was an album by "The BlindBoys of Alabama". I decided then and there that if I was gonna be respected Iwould have to strive to that level".

After leaving the band he spent time in LA singing demos and working forsongwriters Gerry Goffin and Michael Masser. In the 80's Scottie Bros/CBS Recordsreleased "LaMarca", a solo endeavor that found this soul lover singing some catchypop songs, a few of which made it to the big screen, most notably, "Hold on BlueEyes" from the movie "The Wraith" starring Charlie Sheen. He devoted the 90's toraising his kids in Cleveland and singing radio jingles and T.V. commercials. In2005, Abe decided to make the move to Las Vegas where he worked at just aboutevery hotel on and off The Strip with various bands and show projects.

Abe's current cd, “Stand and Deliver” is receiving much praise at Smooth JazzRadio.

2015 marked the 80th Anniversary of The Count Basie Orchestra. William “CountBasie” (1904-1984) started his orchestra in Kansas City in 1935, and proceeded todevelop and maintain one of the greatest jazz orchestras in music history. With Mr.Basie’s meticulous attention to detail, selecting the very best musicians, andmaking sure that every tune could be danced to, The Count Basie Orchestra soonbecame the favorite for everyone to listen and dance to with it’s irresistible KansasCity Swing beat.

Count Basie was able to get many of the greatest instrumentalists and vocalists injazz to be a part of his orchestra, including Billie Holiday, Lester Young, SweetsEdison, Joe Jones, Joe Williams, Snooky Young, Frank Foster, Thad Jones, FrankWess, and Clark Terry amongst others.

Meadows was born in West Virginia and grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. Hebegan playing the clarinet and studying classical music at the age of nine. Hestarted playing tenor sax in high school, and then migrated to soprano sax.

His passion for various types of music led him down an eclectic musical path. Hewas intrigued by the styles of jazz musicians, like Stanley Turrentine, SidneyBichet, Johnny Hodges, John Coltrane, Sonny Stitt, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, DexterGordon, Cannonball Adderley, Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Fortune, Joe Henderson,Grover Washington and many others. After studying jazz at Rippowam High Schoolin Stamford, CT with Anthony Truglia, Meadows attended Berklee College of Music.There he majored in arranging and composition. He later went to the SUNYPurchase School for the Arts. During his college years he played in a number ofbands including disco, R&B and various jazz ensmbles. I got a lot of sideman jobs incollege, and I have always said I got my real graduate degree playing clubs, saysMeadows, who perfected his craft studying with Sonny Fortune, Joe Henderson,Dave Liebman and Eddie Daniels.

“Not long after I finished school, (drummer) Norman Connors recorded one of mysongs, “Invitation” and then asked me to join his band. I later produced his Passionalbum with my colleague Jacques Burvick (Aquarium Dream) . Things just fell intoplace. Meadows first hit the airwaves in 1991 with “For Lovers Only”, but his careerreally began one day in the late ‘80s at New York’s Grand Central Station. He hadbeen a sideman with Connors for three years, with only vague notions of eventuallygoing solo. One day, while waiting for a train, he pulled out his horn and beganplaying under the huge dome. His sweet sound caught the attention of fellowtraveler, producer and TV composer Jay Chattaway, who happened to be passing byon his way to the train. Chattaway was so impressed with Meadows’ sound that hehooked Meadows up with legendary keyboardist Bob James. Meadows and Jamescollaborated on a recording which unfortunately went unreleased.

The experience put him on the road to his eventual success. Meadows hooked upwith numerous artists and musicians and became a well known sideman in his ownright, recording or performing over the years with Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, PhyllisHyman, Jean Carne, The Temptations, Michael Bolton, Angela Bofill, Will Downing ,Bob Baldwin, Chuck Loeb, John Lee, among many others.

In 1990 Meadows submitted a solo project to Steve Backer at Novus/RCA and wassigned to a recording contract, thus marking the beginning of his solo career.Meadows’ first RCA release “For Lover’s Only” was a huge success and was followedby his ground breaking “Keep it Right There” album. He became a staple of thecontemporary jazz format with his subsequent recordings, which include BodyRhythm (1994) and Forbidden Fruit (1996), Passion (1997), Another Side OfMidnight (1999), Next To You (2000), In Deep (2002), Players Club (2004),Dressed To Chill (2006), Secrets (2009) Whisper (2013) and Soul Traveler hiscurrent release on the New York based Shanachie Label.

Having concentrated on the music of Paul McCartney, Johnny Mercer and FrankSinatra over the last two years, Pizzarelli has returned to the bossa nova of AntonioCarlos Jobim with his July 28, 2017 Concord Jazz release Sinatra & Jobim @ 50.With co-vocalist Daniel Jobim, grandson of the legendary Brazilian composer, thetwo explore songs Sinatra and Jobim recorded in 1967 and 1969 as well as add newsongs to the mix flavored with the spirit of the classic Francis Albert Sinatra andAntonio Carlos Jobim album.

Pizzarelli’s latest album for Concord is a follow-up to his wildly successful MidnightMcCartney, an album The New Yorker said “may be the best collection of McCartneycovers ever recorded.”

Since its release in 2015, Pizzarelli has toured North America, South America, Asiaand Europe performing shows centered on Frank Sinatra’s centennial, the songs ofJohnny Mercer and a McCartney program in which his quartet is joined by stringsand a horn section. He also tours on a double bill with pianist Ramsey Lewis and islooking forward to touring a celebration of Nat King Cole’s music for his centennial,which will be in 2019.

While plenty of jazz greats influenced his work – Benny Goodman, Les Paul, ZootSims, Clark Terry and Slam Stewart, among others – Cole has been Pizzarelli’s heroand foundation over the last 25 years. He devoted two albums to his music, DearMr. Cole in 1994 and P.S. Mr. Cole, recorded and released five years later.

In addition to being a bandleader and solo performer, John has been a special gueston recordings for major pop names such as James Taylor, Natalie Cole, KristinChenoweth, Tom Wopat, Rickie Lee Jones and Dave Van Ronk, as well as leadingjazz artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Johnny Frigo, Buddy DeFranco,Harry Allen and, of course, Bucky Pizzarelli. He was featured opposite DonnaSummer, Jon Secada and Roberta Flack on the GRAMMY Award-winning CD, Songsfrom the Neighborhood: The Music of Mr. Rogers in 2005.

The career of Bob James is long, varied and continues to evolve at every turn. Fromhis first days in Marshall, Missouri, the music of Bob James has captivatedaudiences throughout the world.

Discovered by Quincy Jones at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival in 1963, Jamesrecorded his first solo album, Bold Conceptions, that year for Mercury Records. 58albums and innumerable awards would follow through five decades. He honed hisskills working with Creed Taylor, working on albums for artists like Hank Crawford,Grover Washington, Jr, among others. While with CTI, James found great popularsuccess overseeing significant hits for Paul Simon, Neil Diamond, MaynardFerguson, and Kenny Loggins.

In 1974, James finally recorded his own album, One, which launched a lifelongcareer of recording and performing live. After three more albums, James began hisown label, Tappan Zee Records. This allowed James to spend more time in thestudio, focusing on his own creative works. It was during this time that herecorded his own gold seller, Touchdown, which included his composition, “Angela”,the instrumental theme from the sitcom Taxi, and possibly James’ best know work. Bob composed all the original music used in that television series for its entire run.One On One, the first in three collaborations with Earl Klugh, was awarded aGrammy in 1980 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance, and has sold over a

million copies. During this time, James set the standard for the smooth jazz soundin the late 1970s.

In 1985 James moved to Warner Bros Records, and kicked things off with DoubleVision, a collaboration with David Sanborn, and produced by Tommy LiPuma. Double Vision was another Grammy winner, selling over a million albums.

While recording his album, Grand Piano Canyon, in 1990, James reunited withlongtime friend, drummer Harvey Mason, Jr. It would also be the first time Jameswould work with guitarist Lee Ritenour, and bassist Nathan East. This would be thestart of something beautiful, as these early sessions ignited a spark which wouldengulf the Jazz world as Fourplay. Fourplay’s first album was recorded and releasedin 1991. The Group would collaborate on a total of three albums, until 1998 whenRitenour left the group, and Larry Carlton took over. This version of Fourplaycontinued the group’s huge success for seven more albums. After 12 years, Carltondecided to delve further into his solo career, and the band brought in guitaristChuck Loeb in 2010.

A personal and professional highlight was the collaboration with his daughter,Hilary, on their Flesh & Blood album, which toured 15 U.S. cities. James continuedcollaborating on separate projects with Earl Klugh, (Cool) and Kirk Whalum (JoinedAt the Hip). Both albums were nominated for Grammys. continued
