What You Do For Christ Will Last

These last few weeks have been an unprecedented emotionally charged time for our Church as we laid to rest our much beloved Bishop Ted Slack. Our hearts were struck with great sadness at the realisation that a great era has officially ended and that Bishop will no longer be in our midst. Yet we rejoice in the knowledge that he was ushered into glory, receiving his reward for unwavering faithfulness.

And so, as we have honoured him in the past week, we thank our Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings of having had him in our lives and we continue to honour this great man by taking heed to his teaching and life. One of the greatest lessons that I learned from his life was his humility. Br Slack sought not for riches, nor for fame, but lived simply and prudently within a very modest income. His heart was set for heavenly riches and God’s own reward of eternal significance. 

He lived out Christ’s teaching; “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matt 6:19-21

He revealed where his treasure was, in the Kingdom of God. So often life in this world is driven by an incessant quest for gain and accomplishment. We can get caught up

Mother’s DaySunday, 8 May 2016 10:00am

Mother’s Day is always a special day at the POS. It is a time to honour our mothers for all the love and support that they show us.

The morning service will be set aside on Mother’s Day to do just that. We hope to see you and your mother there!

Family SundaySunday, 5 June 2016 10:00am service only

When there are five Sundays in one month we combine Morning and Evening Worship. Family Sunday is designed to give you a rest as well as time with your family. We moved Family Sunday from the final Sunday of May (29 May) to the 5th of June.

Family Sunday is also a great chance for the whole POS to come together. We believe that the church is a family, we are all sons and daughters of God, so this will be a wonderful time for the POS "Family" to spend together in worship of our Lord and Saviour!

National Ladies Conference22 - 24 July 2016 Stanwell Tops Conference Centre $160 per person

Every year the ladies of the churches in NSW and ACT get together for a weekend away of fun, fellowship and spiritual growth.

It is always a tremendous time for our ladies and you will not want to miss out!

The Conference is $160 per person for the entire weekend. The ladies will be taking registrations beginning 15 May.

Life GroupThis year we have started a new small group initiative on Wednesday Nights that we are excited about, it is called Life Group.

These are groups that meet at church and across Sydney covering a wide range of topics. The groups will be meeting for 9 weeks and then there will be sign-ups for the next term that will include some different topics. Term 2 is concluding on 22 June.

This is a great way for you to learn and grow in many areas of your life, but also meet other members of the POS that you may not yet know.

Sunday SchoolSunday school operates every Sunday morning following the worship service. We have classes that accommodate children from 4 to 12 years old. Classes are always fun and exciting so make sure your children are getting the most out of the their visit to the POS.

Life StudiesLife Studies are an enjoyable, non-threatening way to learn more about the Bible. We can meet with you in

your home, our home, or a coffee shop. The studies are less than an hour but have

the power to change your life. Contact one of our hosts if you would like to start a Life Study.
