Sacramental Information Baptism

Daily Mass Winter Reminder—When school is cancelled or delayed for the Binghamton or Johnson City School Districts due to inclement weather, the 8am Mass at Holy Trinity will be can-

celled for that day.

Book Club—The St. James Book Club will not meet on Monday, February 19 because of the St. James Parish Mis-sion. Meetings will resume Monday, February 26.

Stations of the Cross at Holy Trinity—During the 2018 Lenten season, Holy Trinity will once again offer Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm, with the exception of March 21. Dur-ing that week students in the Faith Formation pro-gram will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 23 at 7pm. Additionally, we will offer meatless Soup Suppers on Feb. 21 and 28 and March 7 and 14. Volunteers are needed to help with the suppers in a number of ways: pre-paring a soup, setting up, serving, cleaning up. Please call Marie Lukasik at 797-1335 to vol-unteer.

Butter Lambs—The Holy Trinity Altar Rosary So-ciety is once again taking orders for hand-made butter lambs for your Easter celebrations. Each lamb costs $3.50; pick-up dates are March 24 and/or 25th. Order forms are on the tables at all church entrances. Just drop your order in the col-lection basket at either church and you will be con-tacted with details. We are also accepting dona-tions of butter (salted only) on Sunday, Feb. 25. Look for baskets at the doors. Thank you!

Alpha Youth is Coming to Central Broome! All Senior High youth and Young Adults are invited to attend ALPHA YOUTH! What is ALPHA YOUTH? It is an interactive Film Series (12 sessions) de-signed to engage students in conversations about faith, life and Jesus! And it’s FREE! Every ALPHA YOUTH session has 3 key elements: Food, Talk & Discussion. ALPHA YOUTH will begin on Saturday, March 3

rd, 5:00-7:30pm (following

Holy Trinity will recycle old palms now until Palm Sunday. Look for the marked containers near the entrances.

Heartfelt THANKS go out to all who supported Holy Trinity's Mardi Gras event on Feb. 10. From the cooks to those who stayed to clean up and all the volunteers in between, to those who donated 33 baskets and/or countless delicious baked goods, you are the reasons we can have these events! We especially want to thank those who attended.....with your financial support we plan to replace a refrigerator and some applianc-es in the church kitchens, among other things. It was nice to see so many families and smiling fac-es having fun!! Thanks once again!

St. James Parish Mis-sion, February 19-21—Monday thru Wednesday, February 19 - 21, for LUKE LIVE! - a Dramatic and Musical Presentation

of the Gospel of LUKE, Chapters 3 thru 8 by Pau-list Father James DiLuzio at St. James Church, Main St., Johnson City. The presentations will begin at 7 pm and are 1 1/2 hours. Fr. The Call to Serve the Poor & Vulnerable Work-shop & Retreat—Saturday, Feb. 24, 8:30am to 2:30pm in Owens Hall at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City. The cost is $25 per person, and includes lunch. The Christian path is a way of radical love and self-giving. In our day especially, we are called to care for and serve the poor, the homeless, and the vulnerable. Sister Donald Cor-coran, OSB, a foundress of Transfiguration Mon-astery in Windsor, NY will present the workshop with time for prayer on this challenging topic. A Family Perspective Jesus went into the de-sert to put his life in perspective. This Lent, take a fresh look at a difficult relationship in your life. Concentrate on the positive things that person does, not just the negatives. Try to understand why their behaviors “bug” you. Can you honestly share your feelings with them without attacking them? Make Lent a time to MEND and FORGIVE!

Ladies of Charity Scholarships—The Ladies of Charity will award two $500 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a service-oriented career which specifically makes a differ-ence in someone’s life. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, financial need, and service to school, church, and community. Please see your school guidance counselor for an appli-cation. The deadline is April 27, 2018.

Women’s Lenten Retreat—A Lenten Retreat for Catholic Women will be held Saturday, February 24, 8 am - 12:30 pm at St. Vincent De Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Rd., Vestal, NY. (Handicap Accessible) Registration begins at 8 am. The retreat includes Holy Mass with Rev. Corey VanKuren, breakfast, speaker re-flection with Sr. Mary Jane Florence Athieno LSOSF, confession and Eucharistic Adora-tion. Day of Prayer & Fasting for Peace—Pope Fran-cis is asking all men and women of goodwill to join him in a special Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace for the war-torn people of the Democratic Republic of Congo and of South Su-dan. Addressing the crowds gathered in St. Pe-ter’s Square for the Sunday Angelus, the Pope said that “Faced with the tragic protracted situa-tions of conflict in different parts of the world, I in-vite all the faithful to take part in a special Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace on February 23rd, the Friday of the First Week of Lent”.
