Weekend and nighttime emergency for Sacrament of Anointing of the Dying & Viaticum (Last Rites)

631-667-4044 Ext. # 9

Dear parishioners and friends in Christ, Please don’t forget that this Tuesday, August

15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed

Virgin Mary into Heaven. It is a Holy Day of Obliga-

tion. Consult the Holy Day Schedule on page 2 of this

Bulletin.

Our annual Family Festival begins this week.

Please stop by, bring your family, neighbors, and friends. And don’t forget the two (2) $5,000. Raffles. Much better odds than the lottery. Please consider purchasing a ticket, or sharing a ticket. Pray for good weather! The Festival is a critical fundraiser for our Parish Family. Many thanks to Deacon Phil Mills and to his Festival Committee members for all their many hours planning for this gigantic undertaking.

Our children participated in Vacation Bible

School this past week. Our thanks to Deacon Bill Sperl and to all of the many volunteers who provided this wonderful program. One big lesson we teach is that “There is no vacation from God.”

Registration for our Parish Elementary School and Religious Education Program is currently under-way. Please pass the word to parents of school aged children to register as soon as possible so that we can plan for the new school year. We continue to welcome volunteers for our Parish Ministries. Of particular need are Ministers of Consolation, Religious Education catechists, Family Mass hospitality providers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for the Sunday 6:00 pm Mass and Lectors for all weekend Masses. Our 2018 Mass Book is now open to receive your intentions for reserved Masses. You may visit the Parish Center during Office Hours for assistance. Speaking of Parish Office hours, during the remainder of August the office is open Monday—Wednesday 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Closed Sunday.

Have a great week and God bless you!

Monsignor Bob Clerkin

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

CONFERENCE

In today's Gospel, Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter, and said to him: "Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Your support of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul allows us to reach out a helping hand to our neighbors in need of assistance. We strive to bring relief to the poor, the elderly, the sick and the lonely right here in Deer Park and North Bab-ylon. Be sure to support the Parish Festival this week. While you are there, stop by and say hello to us at the SVDP infor-mation desk. It's a great opportunity to learn more about what it is to be a Vincentian.

If you, or anyone you know is in need of assistance, please contact us at 631-667-4044 ext. 175, or at

[email protected].

The next conference meeting will be on August 21, 2017, at 7:15 p.m. in the Senior Center.

Dear Friends of Outreach,

Can it really be August? Hope you have been having a delightful summer! For us, it is almost over. Beach tow-els, bubbles, sand pails and shovels are replaced in the stores by big boxes of notebooks, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, glue sticks, all the myriad supplies our kids need to begin school next month. We prepare backpacks for all our registered students and each contains the items required by a par-ticular child’s grade level in a specific school. A daunting task we complete annually because of your generosity. Please watch for the sales and help us again this year. Sincere thanks from all of us at outreach and especially from the children who count on us. Thank you again God bless you
