1. Okie-Dokie Karaoke Nights

There are so many pubs and clubs in our region, do some investigating and find one that suits your particular likes – open mic nights, rock’n’roll dancing (surprisingly popular), karaoke, DJ nights, speed dating and more.

2. Skills and thrills We hear that groan, but learning a new skill is actually a great way to meet new peeps while exerting some brain power and creativity. USQ and the Cobb+Co Museum host regular short workshops in various arts, crafts and other skills. Some dance clubs also offer adult classes in the evenings. If you’re keen to update your computer skills, get along to a free class at the library-based Digital Hub in Toowoomba, Oakey and Pittsworth.

4. Ain’t no mountain high enough

Whether you’re keen on a hard-core trek, or prefer a gentle stroll through a scenic park, our region is famous for outdoor exploration. If you prefer to hike in a group, there are walking groups around the traps you can join. Our website lists a variety of short walks or all-day hikes to choose from.

5. Time to get physical Leading a healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to be expensive or boring. Our CHANGE Project provides affordable programs for all ages to help you be active, eat well and live well, while making new friends. Check out our website for fitness fun including parkrun, Seed to Feed classes, Yoga, Energise and Heart Moves. The new Healthy and Active Directory is available online or from your local Council customer service centre.If indoor activities are more your thing, visit one of our Aquatic and Fitness Centres to work on those quads. 6. All the world’s a stageThe hills around the region are alive with the sound of music! Get a group of friends together and enjoy a night out at the award-winning Empire Theatre. There’s a variety of touring and local productions to choose from, including comedy roadshows, dance groups and musicals.

If you can sing in tune, play an instrument, or are ready to release your inner diva, consider joining a choral society, ensemble, band or amateur acting group. The Empire Theatre runs weekly acting workshops (four terms per year) for young adults who want to advance their skills and opportunities in artistic development. 7. Gallery glam With a beautiful Grace Kelly-style trenchcoat and Mona Lisa smile, a visit to your local art gallery will be an affair to remember.
