A comment from

Ian Baker

―Local Directories‖ have recently

been advertising free apps for

phones/tablets that will show

locations and other info and give

reviews/ratings for their listings.

When I went on their website today

it seemed really good, until I looked

at their terms and conditions (see

attached).

Wow, it gives them almost total

rights and control and full access to

your phone/tablet and the info

therein. They would be allowed to

control and make changes to many

aspects of the phone like: settings,

camera, email, browser, contacts,

locations and somehow they can also

keep anything running even though

the user turns it off.

Refer to: https://play.google.com/

store/apps/details?

id=au.com.localdirectories.www

This is probably similar to many

other apps and internet usage we use

every day when we just click on

those ―accept‖ buttons.

I am starting to understand why huge

money is paid for the businesses that

control this flow of information and

why Governments are allowing this

technology to go ahead without

proper legislation for our ‗rights to

privacy‘.

They have all wanted to do

something like this, now instead of

us all having an ID Card with a little

bit of personal info on it, we all have

a phone with huge amounts of info

about us and our friends and many

aspects of our lives that they can

access.

Hello Jack and all Rotarian

Namaste from Nepal

I hope all of you are well and good. I am

sending some furniture photos.

Thank you so much for wonderful support for

children.

Have a good night.

This message and photo arrived from Matrika, the

school master from Nepal who spoke to our club

recently.

The tables and chairs have been purchased with the

donation we made to the school.

A New Strategy to Completely Wipe Out Polio

A new plan to finish the fight against polio will be

presented at the Global Vaccine Summit in Abu Dhabi

on April 24-25. The Eradication and Endgame

Strategic Plan is a comprehensive, long-term strategy

that provides a roadmap that, if fully-funded, can lead to

polio eradication by 2018.

The plan, developed by the Global Polio Eradication

Initiative, aims to capitalize on the unprecedented

opportunity to end this crippling disease once and for all.

More than 400 scientists, doctors and technical experts

from 75 countries already have added their support for the

plan by signing the Scientific Declaration on Polio

Eradication. In 2012, the world saw the fewer polio cases in fewer

countries than ever before and Rotary members are

working throughout the globe to stop the transmission of

polio entirely.

Pakistan:

Rotary installed mobile clinics at toll plazas to

reach migrant populations with the oral polio vaccine. On

average, 1,000 – 8,000 children now receive the vaccine

on a daily basis.

Rotary members organized a workshop for nearly

50 local community leaders, tribal elders and social

activists who offered their perspectives on polio

immunizations. These community leaders are now polio

eradication advocates.

Nigeria:

Rotary members from the polio-free southern

region of the country are helping to monitor immunization

campaign in the polio-affected northern region.

Rotary formed a state level committee of Muslim

Ulemas and scholars to help address misconceptions about

the program within some minority communities.

You can help end polio by joining the World’s Biggest

Commercial. There many ways to support the cause,

including donating funds. For a little as US$0.60 cents, a

child can be protected against polio for life.

Let‘s make history together and create a polio-free world.

Thank you, The End Polio Now Team

Valentines Day Love! Roger, who was 19 years old, was buying an expensive

bracelet, to surprise his girlfriend on Valentine‘s Day, at a

very smart jeweller‘s shop in Hatton Garden, London.

The jeweller inquired, ‗Would you like your girlfriend‘s

name engraved on it?‘

Roger thought for a moment, grinned, then answered, ‗No,

instead engrave ―To my one and only love!‖

The jeweller smiled and said, ‗Yes, sir; how very romantic

of you.‘

Roger retorted with a glint in his eye, ‗Not exactly

romantic, but very practical. This way, if we break up, I

can use it again.‘

A Fathers Nightmare!

A man goes into his son‘s room to wish him goodnight.

His son is having a nightmare – the man wakes him and

asks his son if he is OK? The son replies he is scared

because he dreamt that Auntie Susie had died. The

father assures the son that Auntie Susie is fine and sends

him to bed.

The next day, Auntie Susie dies.

One week later, the man again goes into his son‘s room

to wish him goodnight. His son is having another

nightmare – the man again wakes his son. The son this

time says that he had dreamt that granddaddy had died.

The father assures the son that granddaddy is fine and

sends him to bed.

The next day, granddaddy dies.

One week later, the man again goes into his son‘s room

to wish him goodnight. His son is having another

nightmare – the man again wakes his son. The son this

time says that he had dreamt that daddy had died. The

father assures the son that he is OK and sends the boy to

bed.

The man goes to bed but cannot sleep because he is so

terrified. The next day, the man is scared for his life- he

is sure is going to die. After dressing he drives very

cautiously to work fearful of a collision. He doesn‘t eat

lunch because he is scared of food poisoning. He avoids

everyone for he is sure he will somehow be killed. He

jumps at every noise, starts at every movement and

hides under his desk.

Upon walking in his front door at the end of the day, he

finds his wife.

―Good God, Dear,‖ he proclaims, ―I‘ve just had the

worst day of my entire life!‖

She responds, ―You think your day was bad, the

milkman dropped dead on the doorstep this morning.‖

Why do men love breasts?

Why do straight men devote so much headspace to those: big, bulbous bags of fat drooping from women's chests? Scientists have never satisfactorily explained men's curious breast fixation, but now, a neuroscientist has struck upon an explanation that he says "just makes a lot of sense."

Larry Young, a professor of psychiatry at Emory University who studies the neurological basis of complex social behaviours, thinks human evolution has harnessed an ancient neural circuit that originally evolved to strengthen the mother-infant bond during breast-feeding, and now uses this brain circuitry to strengthen the bond between couples as well. The result? Men, like babies, love breasts.

Why do men have nipples? Brace yourselves for a low blow, tough guy. Nipples remind us that gender is anything but clear-cut, especially in utero. Whatever your sex, everyone starts off as a woman in the womb. For the first several weeks a developing embryo follows a "female blueprint," from reproductive organs to nipples. Only after about 60 days does the hormone testosterone kick in (for those of us with a Y chromosome), changing the genetic activity of cells in the genitals and brain. But by then those mammary papillae aren't going anywhere.

So the real question is: why do male nipples come equipped with nerves and blood vessels? In many male mammals nipple formation is stunted by hormones, but not in humans. Did prehistoric men nurse their young? The lack of evidence suggests not. More likely, full-grown nipples — being harmless — don't get weeded out by natural selection.

The Club Song

We‘ve come to introduce you to the Murwillumbah Central boys,

The way you know that we‘re around is when you hear the noise,

There‘s tenors, basses, inbetweens, and some just here for show,

But all the same we‘ll sing to you, so boys just ‗Let ‗er go‘.

When Governor Georgie, gave us our charter,

He kissed our Rotaryannes to make it right,

We‘ve come to greet you, because we‘re after,

All the fun and fellowship that‘s going tonight.

So put it there!
