The Intrust Super Cup side had an impressive 36-
14 victory over the Central Qld Capras.
I contacted Coach Josh Hannay and got his
thoughts on how the match played out.
I started off by asking him for his take on the
Match? Yeah good, our second half was a lot
better than our first, we probably put together
our longest period of good consistent footy that
we have all year in the second half it was
encouraging to see so we're heading in the right
direction".
So the game plan that you had went down to the
tee in the second half?
"We certainly stuck to it better in the second half
and the boys saw the fruit for that, they got a 20
nil second half to us, so it was good for them to
see that when they do stick to that structure
that's what can happen".
But what was it that impressed Josh, was it the
impenetrable defence in the second half? Yeah
that was good, I just think as I said probably just
the discipline and patience with the ball we just
didn't panic or try and rush and stuck to the plan".
My following question was, who were the
standout performers from the Match?, "That's a
tough one, there was really no obvious standout, there were any number of players who played
well, to mention a couple I'd probably say Mitch
Cronin and Leon Panapa were good for us and
probably Jack Ahern as well".
Injuries can break a teams momentum this far
into the season, so I clarified with Josh if any had
occurred against the hard-hitting CQ Capras. "No,
it seems like we've come through unscathed
which is another positive."
I finished off by asking how the other Canberra
boys went. "Yeah they did, it was good to havethe full squad again this week, including the five
Canberra boys. Each of them made a positive
contribution for us so it was good to have those
guys again".
