MEET THE MASTER

is from the beloved author and my dear friend, Dr. Charles L. Allen

He was born in a village, of poor parents in an insignificant lile country. When

He was twelve years old He was conscious of the fact that God had placed Him here for

a specific purpose. At the age of thirty He made public His plans and purposes and

began the three short years of His public ministry.

He loved people and enjoyed being with them. He went to their par es; He was

a popular dinner guest; even the lile children crowded around Him. He invited twelve

men to work with Him, and later He commissioned them to carry on His work. He told a

ruler about an experience called the “new birth”.

He offered an outcast woman water that would quench the thirst of her very

soul. He healed the sick, raised the dead, opened the eyes of the blind, loosed the

tongues of the dumb, brought hearing to the deaf, and caused the lame to walk. He fed

those who were hungry, and brought peace to troubled minds.

He taught the people that happiness comes from the inside, that the solu on to

hates and prejudices is not in laws but in love. He told of the amazing power of prayer,

that the treasures one lays up in heaven are more important than the treasures one

accumulates on earth, that a divided heart leads to destruc on.

Faith in God was to Him a maer of supreme importance. Because God so

beau fully clothed the lilies of the field, and because God cared so tenderly for even the

birds of the air, He concluded that humans who are to live eternally should not worry

about the things of this life. Instead, one should seek God’s kingdom first and the other

things of life would be taken care of.

He warned against people judging each other. He warned that a life built on

any other principles than the ones He taught would be like a house built on sand that

would not stand in the face of a storm.

He said His Kingdom was like the growth of the ny seed that eventually

becomes a tree, or like the leaven that eventually leavens the en re loaf. And that

possessing Him was worth all else one had, just as the merchant sold all his possessions

in order to own the one pearl of supreme worth.

Please share this ar#cle with a friend and maybe it will spark a conversa#on

with you and them about Jesus Christ, our Savior and the greatest man who ever lived

and who lives now for all of eternity. Do you know Jesus as your Master and Savior?

Have you asked Him into your heart? Have you surrendered your soul to Jesus as your

Master, your Lord, your Savior? If you have, then you have begun the new birth—a

great adventure. Pray with a spiritual friend, your family, your pastor, and be bap#zed

as you profess the Chris#an faith! To meet the Master is the great joy of life to

experience and share with others!

Yours in Christ,

Steve

Let the Worshippers Arise

John 4:23 "Yet a me is coming and has now come when the true

worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of

worshippers the Father seeks." I love every #me of worship experienced with our

group of Lord-loving Youth. At events, with the youth praise team, or youth

choir...we worship. With devo#ons, student sharing, or tes#mony...we worship. In

scripture study on Sunday mornings, in sermons, or prayer sta#ons...we

worship. With missions, local service, or just helping a friend...we worship. Even in

fun loving fellowship filled with big ole belly laughs...we worship. Now is the #me

for us all to seek every opportunity to worship the Lord and worship the Lord with

every opportunity.

The Youth Group had a very fortunate opportunity to a;end a Worship

Event in Rainsville this past weekend. A na#ve of Georgia, Aus8n French, was in

concert but also shared his hearHelt tes#mony of how God's plans will oJen seem

inconvenient at the #me un#l such a #me that we again realize HIS sovereign

design for our lives. Through an unforeseen adop#on, a miraculous healing, and a

career leading worship - God's plan reigns and Aus#n worships. His message is of

broken & limited people set free by grace and mercy then remaining free to

worship the author of our full & prosperous lives. We are free & freely worship our

Savior! This is his 'Freedom Hymn' - "I breathe the air of freedom in knowing my

life is be;er off in Your hands. The past is gone, what's done is done, Now I'm

Alive. I can never be free without you...this is my freedom hymn."

I praise God for freedom from self, sin, and worldly solu#ons that bring only

misery. I liJ my voice to Jesus who is s#ll very much in the business of Saving every

day. I worship the Lord who loves us despite our past, pride, peMness, or mis-

placed

purpose. Arise worshippers -

the Lord loves you and loves to

hear your praise!

Blessings, Hardin

A Mercy Minute

We must leave the past in the past but learn from it to move into our God designed future. Step 4

calls us into a searching and fearless inventory of past hurt, shame, and resentments. Self-honesty gets us

started, hope keeps us going, and Jesus Christ changes us. This week, Josh McWIlliams will share a Step Talk

on stepping into the past honestly to learn but then being propelled into a renewed future to truly live. It's

a rally not a race that starts at Mercy Place!

Blessings, Hardin

The Woman’s Bible Study Group will

begin a Beth Moore study on

at 12:00p.m. noon at FUMC. If you

would like to join us and would like to

We Need Your HELP!!!

Unfortunately, Room In The Inn is unable to con#nue to offer

warm overnight lodging to the homeless as of January 28. Normally,

they would con#nue to provide warm lodging through March 31. Life

Resource Services, local churches and various volunteers are stepping

up to fill in the gap from now un#l March 31 under the leadership of

Life Resources Night Program. FUMC will be hos#ng overnight guests

every Thursday night during February and March.

We URGENTLY need night chaperones, both men and women,

but especially women.

We also need volunteers to drive one of the church buses on

Sunday mornings to transport guests from Life Resources to FUMC for

the Contemporary Service and then back to Life Resources.

If you can help, please contact Alan Richardson at

256-509-8304 or call the church office at 256-574-2545.

As always, Thank You for your Help and Support!!!

The Agape Circle will meet

Tuesday, February 5th at

10:00a.m.
