Exalted Ruler’s Message It is my sad duty to inform you
of the passing of Past Exalted
Ruler Joe Grillo, Sr. I wish to
thank all the Officers past and
present who helped perform the
Ritual and all the members that
attended the wake. He will be
missed.
I thank all who helped out with
the Lodge clean up. It looks
much better. This year we had
hamburgers and hot dogs for
Armed Forces Day. Thanks to
all that made this happen. It is
what Elkdom is about.
Our Lodge marched in the
Glastonbury Memorial Day
Parade. If you were not there
you missed a great time. A big
thank you to those who were
there.
The annual fishing derby is on
June 10th and we will have the
Flag Day Ceremony on June
14th. Did you know that the
Elks started Flag Day? Learn
more about the Elks at
www.elks.org , www.ctelks.org
and our Lodge site http://
glastonburyelks.org.
Thank you to the Breakfast
Committee, the number of at-
tendees keeps getting better and
the food is great. Make sure you
stop by when it resumes in the
fall. Friday night dinners have
been good and thanks to all who
prepared and those that attend-
ed. Have you been to a restau-
rant lately? Did you note the
prices? Lodge dinners are a bar-
gain and have a “home” feel
you don’t get in a restaurant.
We had a new class come in at
the end of May and another will
be at the end of June. Make sure
you say hi and welcome our
new members and encourage
them to get active.
In last month’s Upstart we be-
gan the “Committee Corner”
which lists committee chairman,
and their contact information. I
am proud to announce it was
well received by membership as
many of the committee chairs
have been contacted.
So make sure you take up my
challenge.

Elk of the Month
Jory Pagliughi
Recently the Trustees reached
out to Jory for his guidance/
support in replacing the 1,000
gallon under ground oil tank.
Jory made it possible to com-
plete the project on time and
well under budget as he didn’t
charge the Lodge for his time.
Thank you Jory!

Grounds Committee One project down, many to go! The
retaining wall has been completed near
the back door. I moved it back about
four feet in hopes of moving the pro-
pane tank from its current position. I
will work with the trustees in regard to
this project.
Now with this one out of the way, I’d like to concentrate on
other projects. As we started last month, my information is
in the “committee corner.” Please reach out to me! The
committee could use the help. Thank you!

Attention advertisers! If you don’t see your
ad it is because I haven’t received your
payment. Vouchers were sent out last
month for the 2014-2015 Lodge year.
As you can see we’re doing another initia-
tion on the 25th of June (4th Wednesday). This class will in-
clude all those applications I’ve received to date (May 27th),
and read on the floor of the Lodge. Any application not
read on the floor cannot be considered. More than likely the
Lodge will not be doing another initiation until September.
