Jurassic World

Jurassic World racked up more than $1.67 billion at the box office in 2015 – the fourth-highest global gross ever. Two sequels are in the pipeline, with the first slated for June 2018. The series’ key talent is signed to return, and both upcoming films are likely to do stellar sales.

In addition to bolstering Comcast’s film division, the Jurassic property will continue to see integration at Universal Parks and upcoming film releases should be a driver for the company’s consumer products segment.

With a global gross of more than $875 million, Comcast’s 2016 picture The Secret Life of Pets is one of the most successful non-sequel film properties in history. That kind of performance demands a follow-up.

A Pets sequel is slated to debut in July 2018, with additional entries likely to follow. The franchise’s cute animal cast could be a big merchandise driver for Comcast.

The broader Despicable Me franchise is a powerhouse at the box office, with the series’ last mainline installment having grossed roughly $970 million and spinoff Minions exceeding $1.1 billion in global ticket sales.

This summer will see the release of Despicable Me 3, and a sequel to Minions is also on the way. The Minions characters are huge merchandise movers and Comcast’s most explosive consumer products asset.

With more than $1.51 billion in ticket sales, 2015’s Furious 7 stands as the sixth-highest-grossing film ever. The franchise’s eighth installment debuts this April and should race past the billion-dollar mark.

The Fast and the Furious

A ninth Furious movie is scheduled for an April 2019 release, and a 10th entry in the high-octane franchise is already in the works and slated for an April 2021 debut.

Comcast is building an Avengers-like movie franchise around its Universal Monsters characters. With at least six films in the works, Comcast has more Monsters films in development than any of its other properties.

The expanded movie universe kicks off with The Mummy this June, which will be followed by franchise releases in 2018 and 2019. Films featuring the Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, Van Helsing, the Wolf Man, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Dracula are reportedly in the works. An Avengers-style ensemble action film is also likely if the Monsters revival is successful.
