Dear Parishioners,

Today is Ascension Sunday. We recall how our Lord ascended into heaven, setting the stage for the coming

of the Holy Spirit. But before Jesus left His disciples, He reminded them that they were to be His witnesses to

the world. Then, He blessed them, admonishing them to “stay in the city until you are clothed with power from

on high. (Luke 24:49).” By ourselves we are not able to be witnesses. We need the working of the Holy Spirit

within us, confirming that gift of faith we received in Baptism. Let us not wander aimlessly but instead be led

by the Holy Spirit each day.

Christ’s Presence: We are part of the Church, the Body of Christ. And Christ is present in His Church, in its

members, in its mission. This summer, in our travels and our many activities, we have the potential to be

witnesses of Christ in the world. Let us ask for the courage to live our faith and let us remember that we, as

members of Holy Mother, the Church, have the blessing of Christ to go with us, too.

EASTER DUTY OBLIGATION:

Holy Communion should be received worthily anytime beginning on Easter Sunday, April 21, through Trinity

Sunday, June 16. If one is conscious of a grave or mortal sin, Sacramental Confession should be celebrated first

before receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion.

(1) Remember God when on vacation! Please plan ahead to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when you

are away on vacation. When someone invites you to visit them, always respond with: “We’d be glad to visit, but

there’s just one condition: First thing Sunday, we are ALL going to Mass.” As a good host or hostess, they will

surely honor such a request so respectfully made in advance. When on vacation, don’t take a vacation from

God—You don’t want Him taking a vacation from you!

(2) Don’t be a distraction at Holy Mass! When you are attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at home or

away on vacation, make sure that you are not a distraction to others attending Mass. Take clothes which are

appropriate for Mass, not for the beach.

(3) THANKS FOR HELPING ME PAY THE BILLS!: Summer electric bills and the regular bills continue to arrive

week after week. My special thanks to all who faithfully support our Church, month to month!

Acampando en la Creación de Dios, la Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones de

Santa Mónica 2019 Se llevará a cabo en español del 10 al 14 de junio, de 6 a 9 p.m. en el Centro Familiar.

Pueden participar los niños que ingresan desde PreK-4 hasta 5to grado. El costo es de $ 35

por nino. Se necesitan voluntarios adultos y adolescentes. Registre a su nino o regístrese

para ser voluntario en la oficina de la Iglesia los domingos de 12 a 2 p.m. La inscripción también esta disponible en el sitio web de la parroquia.

En Sta. Mónica la formación para los sacramentos es una formación

familiar. Esto se logra dando clases para los padres al mismo tiempo que los hijos asisten a su formación. Para lograr esto

asignamos una clase de padres a dos o tres matrimonios que serán sus

catequistas durante el año. Este año abrimos nuevos grupos en español

por eso ¡necesitamos de su ayuda! Si se sienten llamados: los invitamos, como pareja, a que formen parte de nuestros pequeños grupos de

catequistas de adultos.

La junta informativa, donde se hablará de horarios, temáticas y otros asuntos relevantes será el

próximo MARTES 28 DE MAYO, A LAS 7PM EN EL SALON 212.

Solemnidad de la Ascensión del Señor 2 de junio 2019

Del PastorHoy es el Domingo de la Ascensión. Recordamos cómo nuestro Senor ascendió al cielo

preparando el escenario para la venida del Espíritu Santo. Pero antes de que Jesús dejara a

sus discípulos les recordó que debían ser Sus testigos en el mundo. Entonces Él los bendijo,

advirtiéndoles que “permanezcan en la ciudad hasta que estén vestidos con el poder de lo alto.

(Lucas 24:49).” Por nosotros mismos no podemos ser testigos, necesitamos que el Espíritu Santo

actúe dentro de nosotros confirmando el don de fe que recibimos en el Bautismo. No vaguemos

sin rumbo, sino que seamos guiados por el Espíritu Santo cada día.

La presencia de Cristo: Somos parte de la Iglesia, el Cuerpo de Cristo y Cristo está presente en

su Iglesia, en sus miembros, en su misión. Este verano, en nuestros viajes y nuestras muchas

actividades tenemos el potencial de ser testigos de Cristo en el mundo. Pidamos el coraje para vivir

nuestra fe y recordemos que nosotros como miembros de la Santa Madre y la Iglesia tenemos la

bendición de Cristo para ir con nosotros también.

OBLIGACIÓN DE COMULGAR EN TIEMPO DE PASCUA: la Sagrada Comunión debe recibirse

dignamente en cualquier momento a partir del Domingo de Pascua 21 de abril, hasta el Domingo

de la Trinidad el 16 de junio. Si uno es consciente de un pecado grave o mortal, debe celebrar la

Confesión Sacramental antes de recibir a Nuestro Señor en la Santa Comunión. .

(1) ¡Recuerda a Dios cuando estés de vacaciones! Por favor planea con anticipación para

poder asistir al Santo Sacrificio de la Misa cuando estés de vacaciones. Cuando alguien los

invite a visitarlos, siempre responde con: “Estaremos encantados de visitarlos, pero solo hay

una condición: el domingo primero todos vamos a misa”. Como buen anfitrión o anfitriona,

seguramente cumplirán con su solicitud hecha con tiempo y tan respetuosamente. Cuando estén

de vacaciones, no tomen vacaciones de Dios. ¡No quieren que Él se tome vacaciones de ustedes!

(2) ¡No seas una distracción en la Santa Misa! Cuando estés asistiendo al Santo Sacrificio de la

Misa en casa o de vacaciones, asegúrate de no ser una distracción para los demás que asisten a

la Misa. Usa ropa que sea apropiada para la Misa, no para la playa.

(3) ¡GRACIAS POR AYUDARME A PAGAR LAS FACTURAS!: Las facturas de electricidad de verano y

las facturas regulares continúan llegando semana tras semana. ¡Mi especial agradecimiento a

todos los que apoyan fielmente a nuestra Iglesia, mes a mes!

No habrá Misa: martes 4 de junio, miércoles 5 de junio y jueves 6 de junio. El P.Guadagnoli y el P. Bass estarán fuera de la parroquia por la CONVOCACIÓN DE LOS SACERDOTES. No habrá servicios de misa ni de comunión en estos días en Santa Mónica. Le invitamos a pasar algún tiempo en oración en estos días por las vocaciones al sacerdocio. Las misas se reanudarán según el horario regular del viernes 7 de junio.
