A. Land

Why England Review

Reason #1: Labor: England had a large population of workers. Due to the improvements in agriculture, people ate more healthy food which resulted in a population increase. Also, new inventions in agriculture meant that many workers were displaced. A job in the field that might take dozens of men could now be done by a single machine. These farm workers found themselves out of a job and in search of new ones in urban factories. Reason #2: Land/Natural Resources: England had plentiful natural resources such as coal and iron. In addition, England has many rivers and harbors that make it easy to transport finish goods. Because England is separated from continental Europe, English soil never experienced any devastating foreign wars.

Why England Review Reason #3: Government: England had a stable

government. England had a constitutional monarchy with a Parliament to represent the people. Parliament passed laws that protected businesses and encouraged economic growth.

Reason #4: Capital : England had many business people who were willing to use their money to invest in new inventions. They hoped that by investing their money, they would make a profit. English banks lent money to those wanting to ope n factories. Entrepreneurs were able to get loans to start businesses.

Reason 5: England had a colonial empire built on slavery and stolen land .

British workers immigrated to Belgium and brought the technology to industrialize with them.
