Social Syndicates offer everyone the opportunity

to become involved in the excitement of racing a horse with friends. It makes racing a horse affordable to everybody.

While there are thoroughbred syndicators out there offering shares, there are hefty upfront costs for the purchase of the horse ranging from $ 4,000 to $ 25,000 per share with a maximum of 20 people in any one horse. This keeps it out of reach for most people. Tony Noonan Racing has set out to change this.

We have all placed a bet on the Melbourne Cup and enjoyed participating in sweepstakes, Cup luncheons & watch-ing fashions on the field. But what if your Club or Business could take your own horse to the races, putting you in the driver’s seat with no upfront costs and having your whole club or business involved? With the help of many talented people including Racing Victoria we are pleased to make this possible.

Here at Tony Noonan Racing we pride ourselves on innovation and sharing great experiences with new people. We are pleased to introduce you to Social Syndicates, a first for Australian Thoroughbred Racing

Tony Noonan

Tony Noonan lives and breathes horses. What

makes him unique however is his passion for people and a belief that sharing the experience is what makes it all worthwhile.

Tony has been involved in thoroughbred training for most of his adult life and holds the highest form of a training licence in Victoria. Tony’s expertise has seen him train just under 800 winners, 280 of these being city winners, with total career prize money earned by his runners of just under $20 million.

Tony is a member of the Australian Trainer’s Association (ATA) and has recently served on the ATA Committee.

Tony Noonan Racing is based in Mornington, Victoria, 600m from the Mornington Racecourse.

Tony’s aim is to train fast horses but at the same time not as a singular or selfish passion. Being in a position to share it with others enhances a victory, family, owners, staff and friends give winning a more enjoyable purpose. Tony likes winning and he likes sharing that experience. Join the team and enjoy your racing

Tony Noonan Racing has made it possible for

everybody to get involved in thoroughbred racing for the same cost of buying 3 cups of coffee a week. Tony Noonan Racing in partnership with some of the best breeders in the country is able to provide your club or business with your very own racehorse at ZERO upfront cost.

There are many big breeders of thoroughbreds right across the eastern seaboard. When breeders breed a volume of horses some don’t make the reserve when presented to the sales ring. This means they are passed in (Not made their reserve).

There are many reasons horses don’t make the price owners set on them ranging from conformational issues, Sire (Father of horse being sold) not in current fashion and often the horse is too well-bred to accept below reserve price. While breeders in Australia race over 25% of horses in current training some of these breeders do not have the capacity to race all their well-bred ones.

It is beneficial for breeders to have horses raced, for example: Racing a filly (Female) who wins races at a high level (Black Type) increases their worth back in the breeding barn once they have completed their racing career.

Tony Noonan Racing has managed to secure a number of these well-bred horses and is able to provide your club or business with your own racehorse through the form of a lease.

This means your club or business effectively rents the horse for a period of time, generally 3 years (This is usually the length of a horses racing career). The breeder typically receives 25% of prize money the horse wins (Rent) in exchange for your usage of the horse. Tony Noonan Racing has been lucky to train and race some very well performed horses with fantastic people. For this reason we welcome your club or business to come on board through forming a syndicate and sharing that once in a life time experience with your fellow club members or colleagues.

We understand that clubs and businesses come in many shapes and sizes with varying numbers of club members and staff so we have modelled Social Syndicates based on this. With Tony Noonan Racing your syndicate can lease as much or as little of a horse as you like from 5%-100%. You can decide if you prefer to race the horse yourselves or would like to take a percentage of one and share that experience with others. We have even made it possible to take a percentage on a number of horses (Sharing that experience a number of times over)

Throughout the year the hard work and effort of

everyone involved is celebrated with a host of social events organised by the Greendale stables. Dress up for the fabulous ball at Crown Casino where every year Tony and Gabriel host a magnificent evening of elegance, dancing and fun. Here owners, strappers, stable hands, jockeys, family and friends get together and let their hair down !

Chill out and relax at the Greendale stables famous “ After Derby Barby”. A fun filled day at Mornington races kicks off with a thoroughbred parade. Then the real fun begins back at Greendale where you get to barby and party well into the night. For the more adventurous take advantage of the fabulous racing trips to Darwin, New Zealand, Hong Kong and England. Or for the more sedate, Tony and Gabriel often catch up with fellow friends and horse owners over dinner, the perfect chance to relax and chat!

We at Tony Noonan Racing hold many events throughout the year that we welcome your organisation to share with us such as stable visits, track-work sessions to see your horse, sportsman nights. This can be held at your club or business should you wish. Tony Noonan Racing will provide stars from the Racing Industry, AFL, Cricket, Golfing sector (and many more). They will also provide stud tours, attending yearling sales as well as holding an annual ball to name a few.

If you would like to speak to us we would be more than happy to tailor activities to your club’s or business’s needs. We love horses! But even more we love racing them and sharing that experience! The key to any successful stable is the need for renewal and the call for fresh blood. By forming Social Syndicates we have blended old fashion values with the capacity for innovation

Since 1991 the Greendale stables in beautiful

Mornington has been the hub of Tony’s business where the hard work happens and dreams begin. Step into the hustle and bustle of the Greendale stables and training facilities and you can’t help but feel the enthusiasm and excitement. Tony has been established for over 25yrs and holds the high-est form of a training licence that Racing Victoria issues, he was born on May 8, 1960, a young trainer in the prime of his career he married Ga-briel and has four wonderful children Tom, Sam, Jake and Laura. He moved to Mornington in 1991 and made Greendale his home.

The Greendale Training complex is very impressive and comprises a 5-acre property situated 3 kilometres from the town centre of Mornington and 600 metres from Mornington Racecourse. Facilities are equal to the very best available in Victoria and include the following:

1. Individual Day Yards: Allowing horses to spend the day out in the open air and be stabled at night.

2. Horse Walker: Horse Treadmill (excellent for horses with leg and back problems).

3. Large Horse Swimming Pool (again excellent for horses with injuries and provides training program variety).

4. Access to nearby Balnarring beach, where horses can wade or work in the salt water.

Tony has spent extensive time interstate and overseas developing his passion and skills. He loves training and the racing industry. He has an excellent strike rate in Group and Listed races with over 30 Black Type winners (Winners at the highest level).

Successes include Piavonic - victory over Sunline in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes, Gunnamatta - winning a history making three successive Mornington Cups, Majestic Avenue - Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes, Show No Emotion - Group 2 Ascot Vale Stakes and more recently Emlozza - Group 3 Dermody stakes and Benedetti’s Sale Cup win.

Our staff are handpicked, well trained, and dedicated to the care and performance of your horse. They include Mick Robins who apart from training Rain Lover to two Melbourne Cup wins has a wealth of experience in the preparation and care of racehorses.

We have a well-trained group of stable staff and experienced track riders with excellent knowledge and judgement, several with extensive international experience who make up a formidable team. We invite you to share our future success with us

The success of any stable is largely attributed to the

support of our owners. Owners are the ones that allow us to do what we do best and that’s train fast horses.

Once your organisation has decided to join the Tony Noonan Racing team we will begin the process of sourcing a thoroughbred from some of the best breeders in Australasia and select one that meets our strict guidelines in what we look for in a racehorse (Pedigree, Conformation, Physical Type, Action etc.)

Once the horse has been sourced we begin the process of educating it to be broken in (teaching the horse to accept its rider). After the horse has been broken in he or she will arrive at our Greendale training complex in Mornington to be educated and start their racing career. Please let us know if you have a preference in either racing a filly or colt (Girl or Boy) and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

If you have decided to only take a percentage of a horse e.g. 25% we may have one already educated and currently in the stables that we will be able to place you in. In some cases the current horses in training may be fully subscribed. If this is the case Tony Noonan Racing will endeavour to find likeminded people as quickly as possible to join you in order to fully subscribe another horse and get you going on the experience of a lifetime

30% $1,200

35% $1,400

40% $1,600

45% $1,800

50% $2,000

Our mission at Tony Noonan Racing is to

make owning a racehorse affordable so everybody can have that once in a lifetime experience. The cost is largely dependent on how many people you decide to have in your syndicate, the more people you have the cheaper it becomes and could cost you less than $10 a week per person.

The total yearly premium of maintaining a racehorse with Tony Noonan Racing is $48,000 per year or $4,000 per calendar month. This is inclusive with nothing else to pay excluding:

1. Major surgery. This is extremely rare with 1 in 100 horses requiring such surgery. While every care is taken we are dealing with highly strung animals in raceday competition. Should any major surgery be required this will be billed according to the percent held. e.g. $1,000 surgery, racing a 5% share would be billed out at $50.

2. Race nominations and acceptance fees for major Group & Listed races. This would be a nice problem to have as only horses that have performed with distinction on the racetrack can compete in these events and should your horse be eligible for such races, it would have already secured significant prize money to offset this minor expenditure.

The yearly premium covers all costs associated with maintaining the horse such as training fees, vet fees, transport costs, track fees, nominations and acceptances (general), jockeys, spelling costs, farriers, dentists, chiropractors etc. When you consider that an average Saturday race is worth $80,000 in Victoria and then a Melbourne Cup at $6,200,000 this represents outstanding value. While the monetary value is great, the experience and thrill of raceday is priceless.

We understand that different people have different budgets so we have made it possible for each one of your members or colleagues to race as much or as little of a horse as they like. For instance: if 100 people had a 1% interest the actual cost would be $9.24 per person per week — that’s less than the cost of 3 cups of coffee.

Social Syndicates is all about having fun and getting people together. That’s why Tony and the team will be donating $4,000 per year, per horse for your group to have a night out on us or put back towards a club or business event. The $4,000 will be divided according to the % of the horse you race e.g. 50% share would = $2,000 to spend on whatever your group desires and this will be paid annually at the end of every 12 months

Percentage Of Share Monthly Cost Per %

55% $2,200

60% $2,400

65% $2,600

70% $2,800

80% $3,200

85% $3,400

90% $3,600

95% $3,800

100% $4,000

Talk to your fellow club members or colleagues. The more people you get involved the cheaper it becomes. Choose the percentage you would like to race and simply divide the monthly cost by the amount of people involved and that will give you the monthly cost per person.

1. When do I receive prize money the horse has won?

Prize money is distributed by the relevant Racing Authority’s Stakes Payment Division approximately 30 days after the horse winning. Owners who form a racing syndicate will have their prize money directly deposited to the syndicate manager’s account by the relevant authority.

2. What if my horse is not competitive? Do I have to continue to make my payments?

No. If decided the horse no longer fulfils its duties as a competitive racing proposition, we will cancel the lease and return the horse to its owner and give you the option to move in to another horse. Tony Noonan Racing’s aim is to only race competitive horses, not to fill up empty boxes at the stable.

3. How do I register a syndicate and what is the cost?

Racing syndicates are registered through Racing Victoria at a cost of $275. There are 20 people allowed in a syndicate but your club or business can have as many syndicates as you wish E.g. If you had 100 people wanting to race a horse you would register 5 syndicates. Tony Noonan Racing is more than happy to help with this process and walk you through the forms needed.

4. How does my club or business sign up

Once your club or business has decided to join the fun, we will simply forward you a letter of intent to be signed.

5. How do we pay the training fees?

The training fees will be invoiced monthly direct to your nominated representative at your club or business
