Nome nest omen for our Customer Service. We are introducing the employees of the Customer Service this month.

Our customers are also our partners: For the MOTEK 2012, we are working closely with some of them. The introduction of the companies can be found in this newsletter.

I also see our employees as customers. To guarantee their well-being, we are continuously working on the working atmosphere and -environment. This is also deeply fixed in the mindset of some colleagues, you can find an example in this edition.

Finally, we are also presenting our software TorqueNet. This product makes your life a lot easier when it comes to controlling your tightening applications and tools.

Please enjoy reading and I would like to wish everybody a very recreative va-cation time as well as a hopefully beautiful summer!

Apex Tool Group’s latest acquirementProduction receives new rotation- and milling machineRecently, the Apex Tool Group pur-chased a new rotation- and milling machine of the type Stama MC 726 MT. It guarantees the continuing ability of a high quality production.

Due to the fact that the new machine mills and rotates the product within one fixture, we are able to realize the highest possible accuracy for our product components. The rota-tion- and milling machine provides more than 220 tools and completes all eleven work steps autonomously which formerly had to be carried out by eleven different machines.

This causes significant time-savings and a concentration of the work steps. The machine capacity is 60 m input per minute and is applicable for metal bars up to 800 mm. In total, the machine holds eleven axis as well as three spindles: The upper main spin-dle turns at 12,000 1 / min., the left main spindle at 5,000 1 / min. and the counter spindle at 4,500 1 / min.

To avoid an overheating of the tools and the products, water is used to cool them down during the workflow. With a pressure of 70 bar, it also takes care of the swarf removal. Before the production process is started, the

rotation- and milling tools of the ma-chine are shrinked in a shrinking de-vice to maintain the exact concentric-ity. Afterwards, the shrinked tools are measured in an adjuster to guarantee the highest possible measuring accu-racy for the production.

Josef Dittmer, Head of Production with Apex Tool Group in Westhausen, shares his happiness about the new baby with his operators Manfred Frei, Harald Neukamm and Ulrich Schiele: „The new machine eases our work enormously and helps us to stay at the top of the technical production process.”

Park bench for employeesCleco LiveWire tools guarantee safe breaksSummer is here! Just in time for the outdoor season, the manage-ment board decided to install a park bench outdoors for the em-ployees. In the fresh air, breaks can be enjoyed in a very relaxed way.

Since they are very concerned about the safety of all employees, our col-leagues Michael Stark and Peter Vierkorn from the assembly depart-ment checked all joints and retight-ened them with an angle version of the Cleco LiveWire series if neces-sary. Therefore, the needed torque of 20 Nm could be met exactly for every screw.

The control for the joints was real-ized with the program TorqueNet, developed here in Westhausen. Please feel free to read more about this product of the Apex Tool Group in our article on page 10.

MOTEK 2012Our partners: Cooper Crouse-HindsAs a subsidiary of Cooper In-dustries, Cooper Crouse-Hinds GmbH in Eberbach is the leading supplier for explosion-protect-ed solutions. The wide product range of electrical equipment ful-fills all requirements regarding a high-quality explosion-protect-ed installation- and illumination technology.

For over 100 years, the brand CEAG stands for innovation and safety under rough and dangerous envi-ronmental conditions. Illuminating, protecting, signaling, controlling and distributing electric energy in explo-sion-endangered environments is the main focus.

The products are applied wherever reliability is essential:• pharmaceutics/chemical/petro- chemical industry,• offshore,• pipelines,• power plants,• waste management industry,• police, fire department, German Federal Agency for Technical Re- lief etc.

In Europe, 600 employees develop, produce and sell:

• customer-specifically configurated switch- and distributing boards,• maintenance- and service solu- tions,• stationary and flexible illumination concepts,• comprehensive signaling systems,• pluggable power supply concepts,• control units,• safety- and main switches.

The tools of the Apex Tool Group also stand for reliability. The Cleco Cle-comatic screwdrivers of the 14-se-ries support our partner especially in productivity. The inline screwdrivers are reversible and allow an easy set-ting of the torque from the outside.

Cooper Crouse-Hinds kindly pro-vides several flange power outlets, junction boxes, couplers and plugs so we can demonstrate our new Geta Inline- and Battery Clutch screwdrivers. This enables us to dis-play an application realistically since especially the inline-screwdriver is ideal for joints of electrical consumer products and in the electronic indus-try. „HOREX? This brand does not ex-ist anymore!“ Many people react-ed this way regarding our partner HOREX from Augsburg. However, the biggest fans of the machine already have heard and spread the news: HOREX is alive!

The historical motorbike brand HOREX is back again – as a reani-mated brand with a new motorbike. The specialty of it is a VR-six-cylin-der engine, a drive concept that has not been available for motorbikes so far. Due to this unique drive concept, extraordinary solutions and a new design, the new machine stands with a very self-confident independent character.

The production of the new HOREX is located in its own manufactory in Augsburg (Bavaria). For the time being, it is supposed to make some noise in the premium segment of the motorbike market in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, later also in entire Europe, USA and Japan.

Between 1923 and 1956, the then called HOREX Fahrzeugbau AG launched spectacular and powerful motorbikes on the market, amongst others the legendary models Regina

and Imperator. From 1960 on, the brand has changed its owner several times till the Compact-Bike Entwick-lungs-GmbH finally acquired the rights in 2009. The HOREX GmbH was born.

The HOREX GmbH works closely with a carefully chosen and continu-ously developed network of declared specialists and partners. This net-work includes well-known companies of the motorbike- and automotive in-dustry, just like the Apex Tool Group.

In the engine production, especially in the assembly of the cylinders, In-line Electric Screwdrivers from Cleco in tool holders with IR interface as well as cordless EC tools of the Cle-co LiveWire series are applied. They are operated by a tightening control-ler of the Global Controller family. Additionally, various Apex sockets were purchased as accessories to complete the whole package.

A HOREX surely will cause many thrilled faces on the MOTEK 2012 booth of the Apex Tool Group. Fur-ther information about the company HOREX GmbH can be found on www.horex.com.

MOTEK 2012Our partners: MiniTec„Hidden Champion“ gets an am-biguous meaning when talking about our partner MiniTec as well as about our own company because when you approach the plant in Schönenberg-Kübelberg (Western Pfalz), you find yourself between woods and meadows in a very rural area. However, you are facing a high tech company of automation technology.

It all began in 1986 with selling min-iature linear guides and ever since the company has developed to a worldwide recognized manufacturer of aluminum system modules and a comprehensive linear guides portfo-lio. On this basis, MiniTec has con-centrated on solutions in the fields of assembly technologies, material flow and industrial automation. This includes the design of workplaces, handling technologies, conveying- and transfer systems, protective in-stallations, custom machines and complete production lines (e.g. for photo-voltaic modules).

Today, about 300 people are work-ing for MiniTec worldwide in nine plants, more than 60 partners and sales centers around the globe sell the products and guarantee a

smooth service. Worldwide, more than 4,200 customers in 45 countries benefit from the intelligent solutions of MiniTec. Numerous well-known companies belong to the clientele such as Airbus, BMW, VW, Opel, Fiat, SEW, Siemens, Kodak, Ama-zon, Rank Xerox, Thyssen Krupp and many more.

At all assembly stations of MiniTec, the Cleco pulse tools (PH-Series) of the Apex Tool Group are employed. With the reversible pistol tools, the patented profile joints are tightened into the core hole of the aluminum profile using self-cutting screws with-out a type of thread. Due to the free speed, a high daily output can be produced reliably which is applied in the further assembly process.

MiniTec kindly supplies us an er-gonomic system-workplace for the MOTEK 2012 which is assembled with our tools and which will dem-onstrate the application of our Geta screwdrivers at the same time. Ad-ditionally, MiniTec will exhibit with an own booth (1308) in hall 1. Further information can be found on www.minitec.de.
