Walls sinuously move and bend through this loft apartment interior housed in a former butter factory, in West Melbourne.



A sculptural stair sits at the converging point in the space, twisting, and soaring up towards a recreational roof terrace which overlooks the city of Melbourne.

A monochrome palate of white on white with charcoal and black, plays with the abundant natural light which is drawn in from the large north facing windows and ceiling void.



An essentially open ground floor plan is defined by bending, wrapping walls which contain a bathroom, laundry and storage spaces. Sliding doors further create the opportunity for expanding or containing, depending on how the ground floor is used, whether it be as a studio, bedroom or for entertaining.

Four houses in front of Baleia Beach, on the northern coast of São Paulo. As a weekend house all the ground floor spaces are connected to promote social interaction, a patio increases the

spatiality of the house, bringing diagonal views and light.

To assure privacy the houses are slightly unaligned. Though the houses are very close to each other, vertical gardens are used on the blind walls of the neighbors, attenuating the effect of proximity. Large glass panels slide completely outside the house, erasing the boundaries between the interior and the landscape.

In front of each terrace there’s a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, and a sauna on the basement. A barbecue space is in retreat of the terrace,

contiguous to the living room.The stairs are bathed in natural light in all the three floors, a glass wall

used as partition.

On the first floor hosts and guests are separated by a bridge next to the patio, the master bedroom with a generous view of the sea. Each bath-

room has natural light brought by zenithal openings. The second floor has a home theater and a sunbathing deck above the master bedroom.

The cross section of the house stimulates natural ventilation, avoiding the use of air conditioning during summer. All the materials bring a warm sensation to the spaces, as the brick of the façades, natural fibers of the

carpets or the wood flooring of the upper floors.

Konya City Stadium is located on the north of the city, 9 km away from the city center on an area of 450,000 m2. A sports hall, swimming pool, veledrom and

a concourse is also available on the site plan. The transportion is provided by the railway system, private vehicles and public transport. Konya City Stadium, is designed with an approach of harmonizing the cultural codes with contem-

porary structure. The exterior of the structure is in white-green colors which symbolizes the city football team.

Planning of the structure is based on UEFA criterias. The total seating capacity of the stadium

which is 42,000 is seperated as the lower and the upper in the grandstand. The seating area

settlement is called as the east, west, south and north. A sufficient number of toilets and buffet

areas were planned under all the grandstands for the audience. The football field is covered

with artificial turf that’s heated from below based on the FIFA and UEFA criterias. The top part of

this area is covered with high technical featured materials which enables the arena to be used

for different functions. The grandstands are reinforced with concrete, and roof and the facades

are made of steel. Wall and roof is covered with composite panel and quadroclad panels,

aluminum interlock systems and solar olimpic polycarbonate and tinted green glass is used in

wall and roof covering. Metal pans with a width of 30 cm and depth of 15 cm is used to create

a consant canal which defines the



Athlete locker rooms, training areas, the referee and jury rooms and various size of rooms for media and VIP entrances are planned on the western grandstand which also has a main carrier made out of of concrete. Technical units and management offices are

also in this region. Durable, robust and easy to clean aesthetic materials are used on the walls and on the ceiling. Athletes use this elevation to reach playground. The grand-

stands are 2 floored and designed to be in the form of an arch with 44 steps. The distance of the grandstands to the field is between 9-11 m. The most distant audience from the football field is planned to be 90 m away from the center. Audience, media,

lounge, VIP, athlete, and security guards entrances and circulation areas are seperated from each other. The stair blocks of the upper and the lower grandstands are seper-ated. Radiant heaters are positioned under the roof for the audience comfort and a

sub-heating system is used in order to protect the turf under heavy weather conditions.

‘Dos pavos’ it is made of a cylindrical solid base of wood, that acts as coin

stopper and, a ceramic piece that rises in height as the piggybank is

filled in with coins. This would be an indicator of how much money we

have in each moment. It is designed to store 2 euros coins.

Martin Kippenberger, a well-known sensational German artist, born in 1953 in Dortmund, is regarded as one of the most influential and rebellious names of art history. Studied art in Germany, Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Ham-burg, Kippenberger was an active artist

even before graduation.

In most of his works, Kippenberger’s humorist attitude and provocative, rebel character contributed to his reputation besides his art works. His

name was often mentioned with Oehlens as the bad boys of Germany while also regarded as the most talented artist of his time, departing his

life because of a liver cancer at a very young age.

Early in Kippenberger’s career, he owned a nightclub where he rare-ly performed with his punk band Grugas while producing his art and developing how it is presented to the viewers. His works were never

limited with an idea or a tool, but a cumulative series of thoughts. What is significant about his art was the procreative outputs in various styles, using

many different types of mediums.

Often travelling and living in different countries such as France, Germany, Spain or United States throughout his lifetime, Kippenberger’s works were

influenced by many rebelling art movement, each affected by politics, sociology or other parameters based upon the time and location.



Producing composite sculptures, extra-ordinary paintings, photographs or prints, this antago-nistic artist faced a struggle of his time, the problem of not being able to produce a unique or authentic output. Nevertheless, Kippenberger managed to form his own way of art by avoiding to stick to a specific style or a definition.

One of his outstanding project is the lamp sculptures he designed in 1988, entitled ‘Street Lamp for Drunks’, reflecting his point of view in the best and –frankly speaking- distorted way. The project gained a lot recognition during Venice Biennale in the same year and was also featured in Kippenberger’s artist book called ‘Psychobuildings’.

With the funny accident of a caretaker lady destroying one of his works in Dortmund museum while she thought she was cleaning the stains off his work, Kippenberger’s art can be easily accepted as eccentric and surely off the beaten track even today.

Island of Goree, also called as the Memory Island, is a soulful symbol of slave trade, located several kilometers far from Da-kar coast, Senegal. Goree has almost a thousand inhabitant, often mentioned not as a touristic island but a memorial place that witness a human tragedy for a pretty long period.

Based upon the extreme geographical location, positioned right in the center of North and South Africa, the island served as one of the biggest slave-trading port by several European nations since

15th century until the abolition of the French colony trades. The island comprises the big Castle and other spread fortifications besides over a dozen slave houses, representing a slavery warehouse back then.

One of the most famous universal symbol of slave trade is the exterior opening of the castle, called the ‘Door of No Return’ where the

famous picture of the first African American president of United States, Barack Obama and his wife Michele, was shot back in 2013.

“The door was the point out of which many, perhaps millions, of African slaves took the final step from their home continent and onto the slave ships that would bring them to the new world, if they even survived the journey. Or that’s the story according to Goree Island

official history, anyway. The truth may actually be far more complicat-ed.” as Max Fisher from Washington Post comments on the metaphoric

meaning of this memorial island.

The island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, since September 1978.

At an early age, Noguchi’s artistic talents were already discovered by his family. Extensively travel-ling between United States and Japan throughout his life, Noguchi gained an internationalist design view, avoiding to follow or be a part of any specific art movement. Influenced by many sources and cultures, Noguchi managed to generate a new approach for design, integrating various craftsmanship techniques and impacts into each other. This ideology caused a wide range of material utilization in his works, forming a bold and subtle outputs which brought him an international recognition in 1938 with the large scale sculpture commissioned by the Associated Press building.

KesSalao is an adorable brand-new space for take away Med-iterranean food, located in Bonn, Germany. This adorable small shop is the first international work of the Spanish creative agency, Masquespacio that earned recognition with several projects among Spain, owing to their unique and innovative spatial solutions and their intelligent branding offers as a commercial contribution to their design.

Ana Milena Hernandez Palacios as the creative director of the Kessalao project, collaborated with an inter-disciplinary design team of Masquespacio throughout the entire process of building up this bright theme, including architects and graphic designers. Each detail was planned to be reflected with the design model of the shop during the concept development period, following a rational and unitary manner as a design approach.




The most appealing feature of the design is that even the display screen makes you smile at first sight, standing out with the red window frames and the red tent. Meaning

the ‘cool & amusing boy’ with a wordplay in German & Spanish, KesSalao aims to form a happy-looking atmosphere and a fresh experience filled with little but noticeable

details which would reflect the Mediterranean style, such as the bright blue stools and the screen visuals featuring the brand’s new logo, also designed by Masquespacio.

The exterior look reflects interior atmosphere by giving little clues with a harmony of bright colors. Balancing the predominant red with violet details; blue and yellow are also

repeatedly used in various parts of the furniture and decoration. In order to keep the fresh sense of the design, natural texture of wood, such as birch veneer and pine were used on the walls and also in furniture, soothing down the color boost and promising a

more natural feeling with the plants that are carried with the hamper pots.

Raffia was used continuously in decoration. Not only in pots but also as coating for stools, functioning as a place to put your belongings while eating, Raffia becomes one of the principal materials among the in-terior. Another essential element of the design, metal gratings mounted on the walls, are designed as a display for magazines or menus as well as a holder for the moving tables which is an intelligent solution for the necessity of a flexible settlement option for the 40 square meter store. Adaptable for changing circulation of the interior, the tables can be folded individually against the metal grating, transforming into a snack bar or a service table. The system provides alternatives for both settlement and storage, an inspirational example for optimized usage of small spaces.

KesSalao, promises a delicate experience for a quick stop to take away Mediterranean appetizers. We believe it is undeniably amusing to be a part of this pop-art picture and have a little chat inside on a snowy night or recalling the old Levantine cafes and Mediterranean atmosphere on a hot summer day.
