As you write, keep varying sentence length to improve sentence fluency in mind. The more you
practice this strategy, the more fluent your writing will be. Look back at lesson #4 as a guide. We will
spiral back to this strategy as time goes on.
This Week’s Writing Focus: Food for Thought-Persuasive Writing
Draw a picture (or cut from an old magazine) a picture of a food that you totally dislike! Write to
persuade others that this food is NOT the worst but the BEST in the world! Use transition words-such as
another, in addition, or finally-to signal the reader that a new reason is being given. This persuasive
framework may help you:
(You are not limited to how many persuasive reasons you may use. This is just a guide.)
