PHASE 1

Time: 3 h

Place: classroom

Objectives:

To introduce the project. To introduce

partner countries’ culture and cities so

that students can get a knowledge and

make a comparison among the

partner cities’ present situation. To

create a picture of other cities in our

minds.

The teacher represents the project “Steps of

Citizenship” to the students, informs the

students about the partner countries shortly,

gives information about the partner countries’

flags, regime, currency and traditions. Then she

presents a slide of the present photos of Sofia

and Ancona and lets the students discuss about

their first impressions.

Students listen about the partner cities, examine

and evaluate the pictures. The students have an

idea about the aspect and situation of the partner

countries and their cities. They make a

comparison among them, share their thoughts

and viewpoints with their friends. They talk

about the buildings, streets; general scene of the

city etc…

PHASE 2

Time: 3h

Place: Old Theatre Building in Ankara

and classroom.

Objectives: To have a direct

experience/ impression about old

Ankara

Teachers organize a visit to an old theatre of

Ankara, give information about the history of the

theatre in order to let students have an insight

into an important aspect of think and discuss

about the features of previous aspects of the old

town.

Students watch a theatre play and they have

observe the historical building of Ankara. In the

class they discuss about the building.

PHASE 3

Time: 2h

Place: classroom

Objectives:

- to interpret a written text

- to get implicit and explicit

information from a text

Students are given an old text taken from an old

“Guide of Ankara” and are asked to read it

getting the most relevant information

Students read the text focusing on the main

information (implicit and explicit).

PHASE 4

Time: 1h

Place: classroom

Objectives: interpreting photos

The teacher asks students to collect and bring

photos and information about Ankara in the past

so that they can represent them in the class.

Students introduce the photos and information

about Old Ankara to the class. They show the

pictures and try to mention the differences

between the past and the present.

PHASE 5

Time: 1h

Place: classroom

Objectives:

- to understand and interpret

photographs;

- to develop critical thinking;

The teacher asks students to find and bring

photographs of contemporary Ankara, compare

them to the old Ankara’s ones and to think about

the negative/positive changes occurred.

Discussion: students compare past and present

city, pinpointing the changes and their reasons.

PHASE 6

Time: 3h

Place: classroom

The teacher shows an imaginary picture which is

a model of an ideal city, talks about the details of

the picture and asks students to relate them to

Students, on the base of the work done on past

and present Ankara and on the base of the “ideal

town “ discussion, write down in each group

which features their own “ideal town” should

have. Each group presents their conclusion to the

class.

Students , in groups, discuss about their own

“Ideal City” and write down which features it

should have.

Each group presents the conclusions to the class.

PHASE 8

Time: 6h

Place: computer room

Objectives: producing an ICT

presentation

The teacher asks students to prepare a Power

Point slide of the documents and pictures they

have collected about the project up to that time.

The students gather all the works and prepare

many CDs as group works. They represent their

works to their classmates.

EVALUATION

Self evaluation: students have an opportunity to see themselves and their products once more ,discuss

and evaluate their works, criticize themselves and motivate each other
