The company Würdig-Pumpentechnik projects, produces and installs innovative water treatment plants such as UWEMAoxyair® for subterranean groundwater treatment.In this process (see fig. 1) iron, manganese and ammonium are oxidized directly in the aquifer.The subsequent through a well conveyed water is free of substances causing iron clogging incrusta-tions, that led to early breakdown of the water supply system so far.The essential procedural step is the infiltration of

g r o u n d w a t e r with aerated water through the well. There-for the infiltra-t ion water is enriched with a t m o s p h e r i c oxygen. Formerly were used tanks of different size fitted with an injector for the aeration and degassing.

Now this model is just applied in domestic water treatment plants (1 – 10m³/day). For bigger plants (10 – 10.000 m³/day) we developed a new infiltration technology (see fig.2), where the aeration, the degassing and the return into the hydraulic unit is connected in a unit composed of a multi-stage injector and a gas separator.This unit is installed inside of the recirculation pipe. Especially advantageous is the low space requirement, less energy consumption and the improved continuous aeration.

High running and energy costs from using centrifu-gal pumps require some explanation.

The general problem:

The inlet rotor gap causes in every centrifugal pump turbulence and in drainage pumps additional risks of blockage.

Our solution:

Our rotorgap seal system completely seals this gap turbulence, thus achieving full prevention of loss of performance and, in the case of draining pumps, reducing risks of clogging and blockage, thereby making existing pumps more efficient and reducing energy use and therefore also reducing energy costs
