Top 10 tips

• Start early• Read UCAS “how to apply” booklet• Plan the structure of the statement (47 lines = approx. 500 words)• Start with key headings, then list bullet points, then turn these into full sentences• Avoid starting too many paragraphs with “I”• Draft and redraft in Microsoft Word• Read it aloud to see how it sounds• Spell check and proof read • Keep a copy for later reference in case called to interview• Do not plagiarise!
