(Hertz) The skies were filled with activity throughout Riverboat Days weekend. LEFT: The Vanguard Squadron Airshow performed over the Missouri River on both Saturday and Sunday, with three planes offering precision stunts, complete with smoke trails. The copter took off from the baseball field Friday and Saturday, then on a flat pad at the west edge of Riverside Park Sunday — and it always seemed to be in the air as it made constant trips out to Gavins Point Dam and back. (Hertz) LEFT/TOP: After a long, hot summer, cool temper- atures greeted the arrival of Yankton’s Riverboat Days, which officials be- lieved played a hand in the huge crowds that turned out throughout the weekend. Some rain early Saturday was not a prob- lem (and was actually quite welcome); Satur- day’s chilly temperatures proved uncomfortable for some people but were en- durable and quite wel- come after weeks of heatwaves. (Hertz) LEFT/BOTTOM: The musi- cal duo of Mike and Jay performed near the beer shelter in Riverside Park Sunday afternoon, cap- ping off a busy weekend of music. (Hertz) Singer/musicians hit emotional chords at the Riverside Park amphitheatre dur- ing the weekend, including Yankton’s Hunter Baugh (above) with his group Hunter and Company on Saturday; and singer/songwriter Jami Lynn on Sunday. (Hertz) ABOVE: The Tri-State Old Iron Tractor displayed some of its historic vehicles at the Riverside Park softball diamond, as well as put on numerous demonstrations and played “Tractor Games” on Sunday.
