• Yes there is heaps of more web things out there but over five years this is what I have found to be manageable and mostly has kept me up to date and rather connected, at least virtually

Twitter, what is it?

• Micro Blogging service

• A web2.0 application, rather tired term these days

• User base is growing rapidly, especially mobile (see http://www.digitalsurgeons.com/facebook-vs-twitter-infographic/) – 400,000 tweets posted per quarter in 2007.

– 100 million tweets posted per quarter in 2008.

– February 2010, Twitter users were sending 50 million tweets per day

– By March 2010, over 70,000 registered applications, according to the company.

– June 2010, about 65 million tweets were posted each day, equaling about 750 tweets sent each second, according to Twitter. (source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter)

I currently use the Firefox Yoono add onwhich does the following….

•Little popup, bottom of my screen•Write one update and post to more

than one place •It can do more stuff but this is what I use

I also use the TinyURL generator plugin to quickly create shorten web links to post in twitter

• It takes time for the magic to work

• networks grow organically and have a point of critical mass

• make it part of your daily to do list, using browser plugins help

• Use a mobile device to read and tweet
