• LVCT Health (formerly known as Liverpool VCT, Care and treatment (LVCT)) is an indigenous Kenyan non-governmental and non-profit organization.

• Founded in 1998 and registered in 2001• LVCT Health envisions healthy societies and uses

research results, capacity improvement and policy reform action for equitable HIV, SRH services to the most vulnerable populations.

• LVCT health reached 1.3m Kenyans with HTC in 2013 with 80% linkage to care, 40,000 in care, 4300 survivors of sexual violence in 124 MOH facilities and 150,000 youthful callers to one2one hotline.

• 70% of Kenya’s young people live in rural areas

• Most qualified HIV & RH service providers located in urban/semi urban areas.

• Mobile telephony penetration stands at 77.3% with 89% of 15-24 year olds engaging with their phones at least once a day for various reasons.

• one2one© is LVCT Health’s flagship innovative & evidence based youth programme aiming to deliver accurate HIV/SRH info ^ services to young people in an interactive approach

• The one2one youth hotline was set up in 2006 to provide info & tele-counselling services to youth on HIV/AIDS & related sexuality, SRH issues through a mobile platform.

• Runs on the short code 1190.

• LVCT Health/Safaricom partnership formed in 2011• Safaricom, largest mobile service provider in Kenya with

80% market volume• Safaricom hosts the one2one counsellors at the state of

art Jambo Call Centre. LVCT Health pays for space.• Calls and text message charges subsidized, thus the

service is toll free to all its clients, mostly young people• Use of quality infrastructure to receive/respond to calls,

collect/analyze data & generate reports.• Enhanced call quality, improved infrastructure and

financial leveraging

• Need to rigorously evaluate our interventions & show that they work to reduce HIV and RH vulnerability among adolescents

• Working together, state and non-state actors in low and middle income countries should jointly embrace the opportunities that private public partnerships present in scaling up HIV prevention efforts amongst youth.

• Such opportunities include enhancing referral systems, better follow up mechanisms, assured quality management, data collection and utilization.
