1.0 Overview

1.1 Introduction

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary to assure that a product meets customer expectations during product development and launch phase. APQP is necessary for effective defect prevention, process optimization, and continuous operational improvement.

1.2 Objectives In this module you will be able to;

1. search APQP projects based on the given criteria, 2. create new APQP project, and 3. edit existing APQP project.

2.0 Vendor Management System (VMS)

2.1 Accessing Vendor Management System (VMS)

Follow these steps to access VMS: Step � Click on to open Internet Explorer browser. Step � Enter this URL: http://vms.flowserve.com

After successful authentication, the home page will display. Step � Enter User ID and Password

Step � Click Login

Result: VMS home page displays.



3.0 Searching for APQP Project

3.1 Display APQP Project List

Follow these steps to access the APQP search screen: Step � Follow the steps in the previous section to log onto VMS Step � Click supplier APQP from the left menu options. The APQP

List screen will display at the bottom of the screen.

3.2 Print APQP Project List

To print APQP project list:

Click Print icon.

3.3 Export APQP Project List

To export the list do the following: Step �

Click the Excel icon. The document will display on your computer

Step � Save the document on your computer’s hard drive. Rename the document if you want to.



4.0 Edit APQP Project

4.1 Completing Section A Fields

To edit APQP project do the following: Step � Click Supplier APQP on the main menu in VMS.

Result: APQP List screen displays.

Step � Click on a project under the Program/Project column

Result: APQP Edit screen displays.

Note:

All fields in ‘Section A’ on this screen are read only except for ‘Supplier Ship Date.’

Step � Click on the calendar icon to enter or edit Supplier Ship Date in

the Supplier Ship Date field. Step � You can add or edit APQP TEAM here. All Fields are

mandatory under APQP team.

Note:

The APQP team entered by Flowserve user will be read only.





4.2 Completing Section B

Step � Click the calendar icon to enter/edit Program need date for

the corresponding element, if status of the element is not ‘Close’. Step � Click the calendar icon to enter/edit Supplier timing by for

the corresponding element, if status of the element is not ‘Close’. Step � Select status of the project from the drop down box in the Status

field Status option Color Open Closed Overdue

If value of this field is ‘Close’ then all the fields of the element will be disabled and you cannot change anything for that particular element.

Step � Click the calendar icon to enter/edit completion date, if status of the element is not ‘Close’.

Step � Mouse over ‘Previous Remarks’ to see the previous remarks entered by Flowserve user and supplier.





4.2 Completing Section B (continued)

Step � Enter remarks for the element here. The value of this field

cannot exceed more than 1000 characters including previous remarks. If value exceeds more than 1000 characters the following message displays: “Values of the element cannot exceed more than 1000 characters”. If status of the element is ‘Close’ then this field will be read only. Approved field is read only. If the APQP project is approved by Flowserve then ‘Approved’ will shown. Otherwise a disabled check box displays. Approved field applies to the following elements:

Drawing / Specs review, Material Review, Inspection instructions, Pattern/ Tooling, Capacity verification, Sub- Contractor approvals, Packaging/ Transportation, Purchase Order Review, First Piece approval (Castings Q7-9)

Step � Click on the browse button to upload related files for the following items, if requested by Flowserve:

• Manufacturing Process Review, • Supplier Timing Plan, • Review PPAP requirements, • Process Flow Diagram, • Control Plan, • Measurement/ Testing equipment MSA, • PFMEA

Note:

You can upload up to 10 files at a time.

Step � Enter/edit ‘additional /lesson learned’ remarks of the APQP project here. You can enter a maximum of a 1000 characters.

Note:

The Project Status field is a read only field. It will be selected by Flowserve.




4.3 Add Supplier Timing Plan

Step � Click Supplier Timing Plan From this screen you can add, edit, or delete task list entries for this APQP project.

Complete the fields under the Task List section: Step � Enter task name Step � Enter number of days it will take to complete the task Step � Enter the start date of the task. Click on the calendar icon to

select the date. Step � Enter the finish date. Click on the calendar icon to select the

date. Step � Enter resource Step � Enter % complete Step � Click Save to save the task

Note:

To add more tasks click Add Row button and repeat steps 2 - 8




4.4 Add Open Issue

Step � Click on link from section B of the edit APQP page.

Open issue list. Note:

Project Name, Part Name, Project Start Date, Project End Date fields will be read only.

Step � Enter the date you started Step � Describe the open issue in the Open Issue field. Step � Describe actions taken to resolve open issue, in the actions field. Step � Enter due date. Click on the calendar icon to select date. Step � Enter the name of individual responsible for handling this issue

in the Responsibility field. Step � Enter issue completion field. Step � Click Save.

When you are done you can print the page, close the window or delete the issue you entered.



5.0 APQP (Read Only)

5.1 APQP Details

The read only screen displays projects that are Closed. This page displays the APQP details. From this screen you can view the APQP details, APQP open issue list, supplier timing plan etc.

5.2 Supplier Timing Pan

Note:

You cannot edit or delete task entries entered by Flowserve user. A read only screen will display, as seen in the screen below.
