Challenge 17 Camp Details

This is your invitation to attend the largest Scout Camp of 2017 - Challenge 17 at Bramham Park on the 7th - 9th July as part of the 9th Airedale Scout Group and Tenzing Explorer contingent.

This camp gives you access to 100's of different fantastic activities spread across 6 activity zones and all contained within a Scouting only compound, created for this event.

Programme Info and Booking details

The drop off point & time for this camp will be at 6pm at Bramham Park on Friday 7th July 2017

The pickup point & time will be 4pm at Bramham Park on Sunday 9th July 2017

Cost for the camp is £55 - payable in advance. Cheques (payable to 9th Airedale Scout Group) or Cash (in a named envelope) need to be handed into your Section Leader BEFORE Friday 19th May along with ALL of the following completed forms:

1. 9th Airedale - Nights Away information form

2. Challenge 17 Campsite - Under 18s Health Declaration & Consent Form

3. Challenge 17 Campsite - Air Rifle Shooting Permission Form (No young person will be allowed to shoot air rifles without a permission form)

Please note - the end booking date of 19th May for this camp is FIXED. No late applications will be accepted as a reservation cannot be guaranteed after this date.

While it is preferred that you hand in forms to Section Leaders, we will accept forms handed directly to Camp Leader - Brian Addison at 10 Fairfax View, Horsforth, LS18 5SZ

Camp Merchandise

There has been some Camp-themed clothing produced to celebrate this event. This can be purchased directly from the Camp website http://challenge17.info/merchandise/shop/.

You will need to provide info like District: Shire Oak; Unit: 9th Airedale Scout Group (same for Explorers as 9th are organising); and Unit: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers.

If you let me know what you have ordered, I will ensure that we pick it up and hand over to the right young person.

The following items are recommended kit list for the weekend. It is strongly recommended that you let your Cub, Scout or Explorer pack, providing additional assistance where appropriate. This increases the likelihood of them knowing what is in their bag and equally important, where it is.

This kit list is intended for camping outdoors in July. We have little control over the weather and Scouts should pack for warmth.

Underwear Rucksack or holdall (they will have to carry this)

T-shirts for layers

Socks Torch with batteries

Woollen sweater or fleece Cup (plastic / enamel)

Long trousers Plate & bowl (plastic / enamel)

Shorts Knife, fork & spoon

Lightweight waterproof jacket Tea towel for drying dishes

Waterproof trousers Folding camp chair or stool

Walking boots Washing kit and towel

Trainers

Fleece or woollen hat Medicine (pls hand to leader!)

Fleece or woollen scarf Sun Cream

No more than £5 per day spending money

Sleeping bag & sleeping mat

Important additional information:

Please ensure all personal items are labelled with your child’s name!

Medicine should be clearly labelled with your child’s name & handed to the designated First

Aid leader.

Asthmatics should carry their inhaler and provide a labelled ‘spare’ to First Aid leader.

Any electronic device taken to camp is at the risk of the owner.

Leaders would prefer that no mobile phones are taken, but accept that some young people

are unable to function without them, so are taken at owners risk.
