2011 SEASON REVIEW VARSITY
RAVENS REVIEW Page 2
The 2011 season was one of excitement
yet uncertainty. After coming off a
championship season and a large num-
ber of graduating players we thought
that it would take some time for our
younger players to come along. The
2011 season was very exciting with
many close contest. We seen the emer-
gence of two premier running back both
rookies Nick Vincent and Cody Mc
Cann. With a revamped squad we man-
aged to go 8 & 0 through regular season
while leading the OVFL in points for on
offense and points against on defense.
The Varsity Ravens also seen many
players have an outstanding season.
Austin Crumb, Nick Vincent & Dan
Benson were named OVFL all stars .
Richard Veenstra, Josh Strong , Cody
McCann & Jordan Deneau were also-
among the top players in the
OVFL.After a first round bye we played
our arch rivals the Mississauga Warri-
ors in the Western Conference Semi
Finals. This game was yet another
OVFL classic between two power-
houses. The fans defiantly got their
monies worth with the game going into
triple overtime. We however came up a
bit short losing 45 to 42 ending our per-
fect season and our chance to win back
to back championships.

We began our quest for a 2012 OVFL
championship on December 1st. We
started with a four week core training
programs where players are asked to
come in 3X per week . We have now
moved into a five week Plyometric
session and than will move into a
speed and agility session.. After that
we will get ready for our training
camp in mid April.

2012. On the Offense we will
rely heavily on Dan Benson,
Travis Duroucher, Mike
Mallender, Nick Vincent, Dal-
las Boow, Casey Grossett &
Chris Slikboer. On Defense we
will rely on Austin Crumb,
Jordan Daneau, Dalton Laino,
Frank Renaud & Ahmed
Elfeky. Some young guys mov-
ing up to Varsity to keep your
eye on will be Eli Fera, Carson
Ouelletter, Robert Herzog,
Adam Slikboer, Matt Mancina
& Mike Dorsey. The entire staff
is very excited about this years
team. Our potential is endless if
we are willing to put the work
in. I am confident the Varsity
Ravens will represent the Win-
dsor and Essex County area
with class and sportsmanship
both off and on the field. Look
forward to see everyone at our
home opener.
After a disappointing end to our
2011 season we decided that
we need to work even harder to
get the OVFL championship
trophy back in Essex. With
many players returning and a
solid group of Jr Varsity players
moving up we believe we have
a great opportunity to win an
OVFL championship in 2012.
We will look to many veterans
to lead the Varsity squad in

With a large number of returning players and a tremendous group of bantam players moving up the 2012 season looks to be very ex-
citing. That being said the expectations are very high as well. Anything less than a championship appearance would be disappointing.
With the off season well under way the kids look to hungry to make the next step in quest of capturing their first Jr Varsity Champion-
ship. A large nucleus of JV players have been in the gym since December 1st going through and extensive off season program which
includes core training, Plyometrics, Flex ability and speed and agility training. Some players to keep and eye on this season include
Desjardins, Marcus Kentner, Khaliel James, Anthony Dagati, Sean Brannagan, Nick Tessolin, Jalen Jackson, Rick Van Espen and
Johnny Middleton. There are many more players that should make this season very exciting. This will be the Year of the Ravens.

RAVENS W HO WERE 2011 HIGHSCHOOL ALLSTARS
2011 S EASON REVIEW JR VARSITY
After a difficult 2010 season the 2011 season was one of
question when the season began. Lots of new faces and a new
offense that rookie offensive coordinator Austin Kennedy
brought in. After and 0 & 2 start the Jr Ravens got rolling and
won 6 straight games to finish the season with a 6 & 2 record
and tied for 1st place in their division. The season also seen
Eli Fera dominate the league and run away with the rushing
title with almost 1400 yards in eight games. It also seen rookie
quarterback Brandon Reaume pass for almost 1300 yards and a place in
the top 10 for the league. The Jr Ravens faced a tough Niagara team in
the quarter finals and continued their winning streak with a 36 to 34
victory in a thriller at Raider Field. Up next for the Ravens were the
Cambridge Lions and a chance for revenge from a earlier season loss of
25 to 3. Unfortunately any thing that could go wrong did go wrong and
the Jr Ravens faced a lopsided defeated by a score of 35 to 0. Great 2011
Season. Anything less than a championship
appearance in 2012 would be
disappointing. The Time is Now !!
2012 B ANTAM RAVENS
The 2011 season started with a bang after
knocking off perennial powerhouse Cambridge
the Bantam Ravens took a step back losing to
arch rivals Mississauga as well as Brampton.
The kids regrouped and won the remaining five
games to end the regular season with a 6 & 2
record and secured second place in their divi-
sion. The Ravens faced Steel city ironmen in
the quarter finals and continued their domi-
nance with a convincing 28 to 0 win. With that
win it set up a rematch against the Cambridge
Lions. This game was a very exciting contest
but the Lions sealed the game with a late
touchdown and went to win 21 to 7. With the
2012 season quickly approaching the Bantam
Ravens looked to again be very strong con-
tenders for the OVFL championship. With
over 50 players taking part in our off season
program it is very apparent that they have
some unfinished business to tend to. The Ra-
vens will look to lean on the leadership of re-
turning veterans Kaine Stevenson, CJ Church,
Kris Brown, Brandon Speller Zach Herzog
and David Gemus. I know Coach Chantler is
hot on the recruiting trail and will bring in the
top talent to showcase the Essex County Area
