Handwriting/Independent Writing – You can attempt to write in joint writing if you’re feeling confident. WEEK 1 - Recount Writing – My Easter Holidays during Lockdown 2020 – Write a recount of the three best things you did during this unusual Easter holiday. Remember good time connectives vocabulary like first, then, next, after that, finally. Remember to sound out unknown words as best you can. See my example below.

Easter during Lockdown 2020

Easter this year was so different but I really enjoyed it. Let me tell you all about it.

Firstly, we decorated our house for Easter. I made lots of nice bunny decorations and I hung them up around the house. I even made Easter egg decorations using salt dough. I painted them; they looked amazing.

Next, on Holy Saturday I baked a cake. We ate it on Easter Sunday. It was delicious.

Finally, on Easter Sunday we had an Easter egg hunt in the garden. It was so much fun trying to find all of the eggs. After that, we went inside and had an Easter egg feast. They were so tasty.

That was the three best events of my Easter holidays.

Draw some pictures as a memory or glue on some photographs.

Page 3: doohamletns.com · Web view1. st. Class . Work. Literacy . Spellings. Week 1 - Learn week 27 – What sound is common in each word? Highlight it. Do you understand the meaning of

Keep a diary – Continue to write a few sentences about what you have done every day or even every few days. You could try and write it in joint handwriting. You might find this interesting to read when you are older. Remember to sound out all words carefully. See example below. Dear Diary, 16-4-20

Today was great fun. We were very busy.

It was a lovely sunny day so we decided to paint our playhouse outside.

After that we went on a long walk around the Black Island. The ducks were very hungry; they came waddling up to us looking for food. Luckily we had some for them.

When we got home we watched a Disney movie called Monsters University, it was really funny.

Finally, we went to bed. I was exhausted after my busy day.

Week 1 Capacity Provide opportunities for free play involving filling and emptying many different-

sized and different shaped containers. Ensure the children fully understand and are able to use terminology such as ‘full’, ‘empty’ and ‘level’.

Mental maths puzzles (the answers can be checked practically): If a jug holds 4 cups of water, how many cups would I need to fill 2 jugs? A glass holds 6 eggcups of water altogether. If I poured 4 eggcups of water into the glass how many more would I need to fill it completely? A saucepan holds 5 jugs of water altogether. How many saucepans can I fill with 10 jugs of water? If I had 9 jugs of water how many saucepans can I fill completely? Would a smaller saucepan hold more or less than 5 jugs of water? Would a bigger saucepan hold more or less than 5 jugs of water? If 2 milk cartons hold the same amount as 1 Coke bottle, how many milk cartons hold the same amount as 2/3/4 Coke bottles? If a bowl holds 6 mugs of water and I pour in 3 mugs, will the bowl be nearly full or nearly empty? How many more mugs of water are needed to fill the bowl completely? Choose some different-shaped containers with a similar capacity (e.g. 1-litre ice-

cream carton and 1-litre mineral bottle) and provide opportunities for the children to discover the conservation of volume. Before starting the activity, ask the children to estimate which of the containers they think will hold the most or the least amount of water. Fill 1 container with water and then pour the water from the first into the second container. What do you notice? Does the same
