The student will be able to explain the group purpose and his/her individual goal.3. The student will be able to complete pre-tests and explain the purpose of completing the pre-tests. ____________________________________________________________________

Materials: Pre-tests (See Appendix A), SOAR poster, starbursts, paper of what the colors represent (See Appendix B)

Procedure: Introduction (3 min)

Welcome to the group, explanation of the group, group rules/confidentiality and session’s itinerary

Main content/experiential activities/Processing (15 min)Explain SOAR and how discuss how it might work in small groups (3 min) Ice Breaker (5 min)

Choose a starburst and answer the question that corresponds with the color. Each person will get 2 starbursts.

Explanation of goal setting. Review of the big goal of the group and explanation of how the evaluations will help see how much we have grown. (2 min)

Complete the evaluations.—When you’re finished think about your individual goal for the group. (5 min)

Closing (4 min)Name one thing you learned or like about the person to your left. (2 min)Review of group goals. (1 min)Review of confidentiality. (1 min)

Plan for Evaluation: How will each of the following be collected? Process Data: data on the kids (e.g. ethnic identification, SES, school performance, etc.) collected prior to the meeting from student cumulatives and teachers, head count of student will be completed for the dayPerception Data: This will be evaluated through the closing activities and pre-test. Learning Objective(s):1. The student will be able to name 2 adults in the school that could help them with a problem they might have. 2. The student will complete the scavenger hunt. 3. The student can name one school rule and one consequence that could come from disobeying the rule.

Materials: ipad, scavenger hunt QR code (see Appendix C), small gift at the end of the scavenger hunt, poster of school rules and consequences, Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes

Procedure: Introduction (2 min)

Reminder of the group, group rules/confidentiality and session’s itinerary Main content/experiential activities/Processing (17 min)

Discuss school rules and consequences (2 min)Discuss the rewards for following and consequences for not following the rules (3 min)

Read Pete Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes (5 min)

Scavenger hunt with clues to find places and people that help us in the school (e.g. principal, vice principal, counselor, nurse, social worker, librarian, cafeteria, gym, custodian) (7 min)

Each location will have a clue to the next location. A prize will be waiting in my office (the last site for the scavenger hunt).

Closing (5 min)Name one person that can help you in the school (2 min)Name one school rule and a consequence for not following the rule (2 min)Homework: Ask a classmate for a tour of the classroom (1 min)
