Camper Jokes!
My mom gave me a penny
So I could buy some tennies
But I don’t want no tennies,
(Chorus)
I just want some boombas!
Some jiggly-jiggly boombas!
My mom gave me a nickel
So I could buy a pickle
But I don’t want no pickle
(Chorus)
My mom gave me a dime
So I could buy a lime
But I don’t want no lime
(Chorus)
My mom gave me a quarter
So I could buy some water
But I don’t want no water
(Chorus)
My mom gave me a dollar
So I could pop my collar
But I don’t pop my collar
(Chorus)

A Recap of Camp Kesem 2016

Fall 2016
Day 1
Our first stop “Around the World” for camp was Australia! We had fun exploring Camp Herrlich with a scavenger hunt. We then created Unit chants and showed them off to every-one! To relax for the day we danced to Disney classics like “Hakuna Matata” from Lion King.
Day 2
The campers arrived in North America today and spent an exhausting day playing Alaskan baseball, making wind chimes and fireworks in a jar. After all this fun the campers still found the energy to participate in a Patriotic Palooza, consisting of backyard games such as potato sack races and three-legged races. Surprise
fireworks ended the day!
Day 3
We hopped past the equator into South America for the day. The campers played capture the flag, made Incan masks, and crystal trees. They later enjoyed a Carnivale Catwalk presented by the counselors!
Day 4
We flew over the pond to Europe today! After a gruesome tug of war game we made Morse code bead bracelets and lemon volcanoes. The day was also filled with swimming, horseback riding and zip lining.
Day 5
Today we are in Africa! We went on nature hikes, made mancala boards and spirit drums, and even learned about rocks. Later it was time for Kesem Olympics!
Day 6
From Africa we flew to Asia! It was a culture filled day staring with making paper fire-
breathing dragons, oobleck, and watching a Dragon boat festival. It ended with an evening of Holi and dancing Bhangra!
Day 7
We left camp filled with amazing memories. Once back we had a giant closing circle consisting of games, camp songs, and stuffed animals. Everyone was sad to leave but already looking forward to next year!
Recent Events
SBU Involvement Fair & General Body
Meetings
Preparations for camp are in full swing! We are pre-
paring to make the fourth year of camp our best
year so far! In the first few weeks of the new
semester, volunteers represented Camp Kesem at
the on-campus “Involvement Fair,” and gained a ton
of new members and supporters! Each week these
students meet to help make the whole Kesem
experience memorable and fun-filled!
First Bake Sale of the Semester
On September 28, during Stony Brook University’s
Campus Lifetime, our coordinators set up a table with
delicious, hand-baked goods for sale! Our coordinators
stayed up the night before baking these delicious
goodies, and managed to sell $203 worth of cupcakes,
cookies, and macaroons, exceeding their goal of $200!
