There are three tasks for you to do before you can say you’ve completed this WebQuest. 1. In pairs, research and define different camera angles and provide examples of how they are used.2. Individually, provide a character description and analysis for Mufasa, Simba, Scar and Zazu.3. In groups of four, develop a storyboard for a missing scene in the film.
Examples of scenes are: - Scar setting the hyenas up to kill Simba in the Elephant’s graveyard or Narla’s escape from Scar’s camp at Pride Rock to search for Simba.

Task 2: Individually now, there are four major characters in the film, The Lion King. What you have to do is create a character profile for each of them.
Below I’ve provided a picture of these characters, you must identify them, tell me what they look like, and finally describe their personality.
Character Photo Name What do they look like? Describe their personality

Task 3: This is where you get to be creative and work in groups! In groups of four, you now get to design and write your own storyboard in which you are to write a scene which is
not in the film. A storyboard for each scene generally has between 15 and 30 frames (an example can be found in the
‘Resources’ tab) The best way to do this is either hand draw your storyboard or use Software such as StoryBoard Pro Think about the camera techniques, lighting and music we discussed in Task 1 as well as the characters from Task
2 to create your storyboard.

This WebQuest has been designed for students in Stage 4 English, and should be used in correlation with the ‘Film Study’ guidelines as set out by the Board of Studies in their syallbus: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_scpdf_doc/english_710_syl.pdf.
It has been created in a manner, which should role over effectively three lessons, with the chance it would fit into a fourth class for presentations of storyboard ideas.
The outcomes, which this unit covers, are; 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10 and 11. For more information refer to the syllabus as provided above.
For further details on the WebQuest, contact LaSalle Catholic College Bankstown who have already approved an 8 week unit on this topic to be designed through team teaching.
