STEM CLUB NEWS:

On Wednesday, March 27, Dr. Pramod Abichandani, Professor of Robotics at NJIT and architect of the West Deptford Exploring Engineering Curriculum, spoke to our engineering students about his latest drone swarming research he plans on commercializing.

Dr. Abichandani gave real life examples of how his success as an engineer and entrepreneur can be credited to his work ethic, time management, and teamwork. Students always find something meaningful to take away from Dr. Abichandani’s annual inspiring talk.

DECA members and students interested in business- The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) wants you!!! The Wharton School has created a Global Young Leaders Academy in Finance. With the guidance of Wharton faculty and Ph.D. students, participants will explore all aspects of finance, from the time value of money and corporate finance to ethics and investment decision-making. Students will trade on Wharton’s Online Trading & Investment Simulator — using real-world market data without risking real money — and develop and deliver a team-based investment project. This is a great community service event and a lot of fun! Anyone interested in volunteering can register online at https://2019sonjevents2.my-trs.com/.

BOOK FESTIVAL:

The Book Festival is May 4th at RiverWinds from 10:00 to 3:00. Ms. Maska is looking for students who can help from 9am to 11am, 11am to 1pm and 1pm to 3pm. Students are needed to help at the check in/registration desk, art table and assist the authors. Students will receive a certificate documenting volunteer hours. Contact Ms. April Maska if interested: [email protected]

Community Service is beneficial to students for many reasons. It can boost a student's resume. It can help them to gain new skills. It can enable them to network and meet new people. It can promote personal growth and self-esteem. It can strengthen the community. If your child is interested in completing some community service hours on their own, they should see Mrs. Davis in room 18. Current opportunities include:
