Bill says,“We pride ourselves on not onlyknowing our customers but getting toknow their extended families as well.We are proud to have built our busi-ness on referrals from our customers. We use referrals as a benchmark of theservice we provide since we know thatreferrals indicate to us that we aredoing a good job and our customerstrust us to help with their family andfriends. We appreciate their trust andnever take it for granted.”

Let’s face it, insurance is one ofthe necessities in life that you don’t al-ways want to think about, but when aloss occurs you want to know youhave adequate insurance to protectyourself, your family, your home, andyour possessions. When was the last time yourinsurance agent saved youmoney?

“There are many cases where wewill find savings for our clients duringour annual review,” says Bill. “Thisyear we were able to reduce home in-surance premiums for many of ourhome owners because they had newroofs installed or security systemsadded. They are so happy when theyrealize the investment they placed intheir home is paying off in reducedpremiums. When it comes to auto weare often able to save customersmoney by adding some additional dis-

counts or modifying their current cov-erages. We have been especially suc-cessful in the Westchase area. With somany of our neighbors having youngdrivers and multiple cars in the house-hold, our auto rates have been able tosave some customers over a thousanddollars a year, that makes all of us feelgreat.”

Westchase OriginalsBill and his wife Valerie moved to

the Westchase area in 1988 when allthe roads leading in were 2-lane roads;Publix wasn’t there and going out toeat meant a long drive or going to aneighbor’s house. They have threechildren who all went to the local pub-lic schools. Bill says, “We have lovedraising our children in such a greatneighborhood and so appreciate all thechanges that have happened to thearea over the years.” Bill and Valerieare believers in giving back and partnerwith the local schools and other chari-table organizations to make sure theyare giving back to this community. They love this area and love the factthat so many of their clients live inWestchase. “We are happy that somany of our friends and neighborshave trusted us to help protect their

families,” says Bill. “We are very pleased with all the

services provided from our AllstateAgency,” says one of Bill’s clients. “Wefeel very lucky that we have an agentthat is always willing to work with usto obtain the best price and servicepossible. Due to the awful economy, itis fortunate that our agent understandsand wants the best premiums that willwork within our budget while still ob-taining the best coverage.”

Clean “N” Clear & Ultimate Pool Service–Your Pool Care Experts!

By Lenay Ruhl

Two Tampa Bay area pool serv-ices are now working together to bet-ter offer clients their combined talentand unique services, in hopes ofgreatly improving the pool service in-dustry. Clean “N” Clear and UltimatePool Service provide residential andcommercial pool services, includingrepairs, solar heaters and installation,as well as, pool decks, pool resurfac-ing, screen enclosure repairs, tree trim-ming, landscaping, irrigation, andstump grinding. They also offer a fullrange of products, including poolequipment and inflatables, which areall available on their online store.

Although they are combiningcompanies, they are each keeping theirown names. Christian Ramirez, ownerof Clean “N” Clear, and JimmyTestino, owner of Ultimate Pool Serv-ice, are very knowledgeable and to-gether have over 33 years of combinedexperience.

“When you go outside, we wantto give you a service where you don’thave to worry about it,” says Ramirez.“When you get home from work youshould be able to enjoy your backyard, like an oasis.”

This same concept was the inspi-ration when founding their compa-nies. Ramirez acknowledges thatTampa is becoming a busy city, and heand Testino want to provide conven-ience to Bay area residents. Ramirezand Testino are very adamant aboutbuying local and have hopes of pur-chasing a majority, if not all, of theirproducts from companies within theTampa Bay Area. “We want to reachout to people and let them know thatwe are local guys, trying to boost theeconomy; especially in the Tampa Bayarea,” says Ramirez.

Clean “N” Clear and UltimatePool Service offer all of their productsat their online pool stores atwww.CleanNClearsvc.com andwww.UltimatePool.org. Their web-

sites will also feature a blog where cus-tomers can review the items and readabout their performance. “If youdon’t like it, you’re going to be ableto say it,” says Ramirez. Their inven-tory of products will include chemi-cals, toys, inflatable items, highefficiency pumps, heaters, automationsystems, salt systems, Hayward Pentaircontrol panels, Marathon pumps, sandfilters, and much more.

Ramirez and Testino have a lot of

pool cleaning experience. Ramirez gotinto pool cleaning after his familymoved to Florida from Chicago andbought a house with a pool. He smilesremembering his dad making himmaintain the pool.

As Ramirez got older he was of-fered a management position with atree trimming company, and that’show it all came together to combinethe two. Today, his brother MytchRamirez manages the tree trimming

side of the business. The brothers de-cided to combine tree trimming withthe pool service because they noticedthat people have nice pools but some-times their landscape is not coordi-nated.

Ultimate Pool Service and Clean“N” Clear service the areas ofWestchase, Keystone, Citrus Park, TheEagles Community, Sweetwater, Bay-port, Van Dyke Farms, Avila, Odessaand Northdale. Between the two com-panies they have more than 200clients, and although Clean “N” Clearstarted out doing commercial pools, a

majority of their pools now are resi-dential. Growing as a company, theyhave the equipment to maintain alarge amount of quality commercialpools and they currently service theCitrus Community Pool and ThePointe at South Florida – USF Tampahousing. The Pointe has broughtthem a lot of references, and Ramirezis excited to see their commercial poolopportunity grow into the servicing ofhotels and other similar avenues.

Throughout the years Ramirezhas noticed some common mistakesthat people make with their pool

maintenance. The first mistake – theythink that if they have a pool servicesystem that they don’t need a naviga-tor because they have a pool guy. Sec-ond – they don’t realize that althoughthey purchased a navigation and poolservice, they still need to monitor theirfilter.

“There is more to caring for apool than just dumping in chlorine,”says Ramirez. “Different levels ofchemicals are required and the wrongamounts can corrode your pipes andthrow off your balances.”

The number one mistake peoplemake with their pools; “During thewinter, they get rid of us,” saysRamirez; which is why their busiestseason is April through September. This is a big mistake, and to sustain anoptimally-functioning pool it is impor-tant to maintain it year-round.

Clean “N” Clear and UltimatePool Service determine prices basedon the volume of the pool and howmuch chemicals they will have to use. They also offer spa maintenance, andRamirez stresses that this service re-quires a lot more care. No hard fabricscan be used on spas, and they requiredelicate attention. “They’re a littleharder, to be honest, “he admits. “Youhave to really know your readings.”

Because of the importance of knowingyour readings and balancing chemi-cals, all of their employees are Certi-fied Pool Operators (CPOs).“Everybody that touches the poolshave to be CPOs,” says Ramirez.

Ramirez and Testino are veryadamant about staying up-to-date onthe latest trends and techniques, whichis why all of their employees are con-tinually receiving pool-service educa-tion and updating their knowledge inpool maintenance.

Ramirez believes his businessstands out above the competition be-cause of “the service and constantcommunication we have with everysingle individual customer.”

“I can fix anything to do withyour pool and the area surroundingyour pool,” says Testino.

“We try to understand the uniqueneeds of customers,” says Ramirez.“We are quality.”

To schedule an appointmentplease contact Christian Ramirez at(813) 369-1756, or Jimmy Testinoat (813) 469-1500. For more infor-mation visit their websites atwww.CleanNClearsvc.com andwww.UltimatePool.org or Christ-ian’s Facebook page at www.Face-book.com/CleanNClearsvc.

When Westchase resident MannyParad met Jaime Central Air Condi-tioning & Heating Specialist JaimeGuerrera, he knew he had found abusiness partner who shared the samehigh standards for honesty and cus-tomer service, and after 47 years ofworking in the air conditioning andheating industry, Manny knows thatbeing honest with your customers andperforming high quality work is whatkeeps a company in business. “Muchof our business is in the Westchase areaand many of our new customers comefrom referrals,” says Manny. “I live inWestchase and am proud that I can goplaces in the community without fearof running into an unhappy client. Westand behind our work and are proudof the loyalty our customers have tous. We want to make sure that we al-ways treat our clients with utmost re-spect and that when we’ve finished thejob, we’ve earned their trust and loy-alty.” Jaime Central Air Conditioningand Heating is a bi-lingual companyand has employees who speak bothEnglish and Spanish to better serveclients.

Customers of Jaime Air definitelyhave great things to say about Manny,Jaime, and the professional workersthat have come to their rescue. “JaimeAir did a great installation,” says onehappy Westchase family. My wife wasvery happy with how clean they keptour home during the tricky renova-tion. The new system cools fast andit's very quiet due to the new duct-work they installed. Now all ourrooms are the same temperature. Wegot a new Trane system for less thanthe price the other company quotedus.”

Whether you need your AC re-paired or replaced, or would like to

find out how to cool a room better orlower your energy costs, Jaime Air canhelp you. They offer free estimates andsecond opinions and guarantee to havethe lowest prices with the highestquality work.

Air Conditioning Repairs Air Conditioning Units definitely

take a beating in the hot Floridaweather, where they are rarely given abreak. Should you have an issue, JaimeAir is able to repair all major brands ofair conditioners. And, when you call, you’ll talk to a live person on thephone. In fact, Manny says many timeshe can help the customer resolve theissue over the phone. However, if yourunit does need repairs, Jaime is per-sonally involved to make sure every-

thing is done correctly and in a timelymanner. And, since Jaime Air’s servicetechs aren’t paid on commission, youcan rest assured that they won’t try toup-sell you on unnecessary parts orservices.

Air Purification andDuct Sanitation

There are several signs that couldindicate you have mold growing inyour ductwork, such as staining orwater damage around ductwork, con-densation inside, or a musty smell. Ifleft untreated, mold can make you andyour family sick. If you are concernedabout mold growth, Jaime Air can in-stall UV-C lights to prevent moldgrowth in your system. They can alsoinstall electronic air cleaners to help re-

move pollen and dust. However, in some cases you

might want to have your ductwork re-placed and the professionals at JaimeAir are experts at doing this in atimely, cost effective, and unobtrusiveway. In fact, dirty ductwork that isover 12 years old in Florida can be re-placed for about the same cost as hav-ing it cleaned. As an extra bonus, youmight find that the airflow throughoutyour house improves with new duct-work.

“There is no reason for one roomto be hotter than others in yourhouse,” says Manny. “But some timesthe ductwork that was originally in-stalled is too small for the room to getsufficient air or the purpose of theroom has changed over the years and

therefore new ductwork is needed toget more air into the room. We can fixyour ductwork so that every room inyour house will be as cool as you wantit to be.”

New Air ConditionerInstallation

“Jaime Air did a great job in ourhome in Westchase,” writes a happycustomer. “We had 5 bids for the sameTrane system. Manny Parad came toour home and explained which systemwas the best one for us to buy. He

measured our home and the installerswere able to finish the job the sameday. They did a great job and left ourhouse clean. We saved $1000 on thesame system quoted by others.”

The average life span of an airconditioning unit in Florida is 7 to 10years, although some higher end mod-els can last as many as 17. If you findyourself in need of a new air condi-tioning unit, Jaime Air will help youfind a system to fit your home andbudget. They install many differentbrands of air conditioning units andare licensed dealers for three of the topbrands – Trane, Carrier, and Bryant.

Another happy customer writes,“Jaime Air installed a new Bryant sys-tem for me. I got proposals from a fewof my local dealers and Home Depot. The sales person Jaime Air sent didnot try to up-sell me. He explainedthe brands available for my home, aswell as the size and the model. He wasthe only one who measured my hometo be sure I had the right size unit. Allof this took less then an hour and heexposed a bunch of myths the otherdealers had told me. The system Ichose was a Bryant two-stage modelthat is now keeping every room in myhome at the same temperature. Theinstall took 7 hours and they doublesealed all of the ducts and put a plas-

ter-like seal on it. I needed a new ductbox, plywood stand, and electricalbreaker and Jaime Air did not chargeme extra for it.”

Energy Savings foryour Home

Manny was a State of Florida En-ergy Rater for many years so he knowshow to help you save money on yourcooling and heating costs. He says,“There is no charge for me to comelook at a house-wide problem;whether it is high energy bills, toomuch humidity in the house, or aroom or area that isn’t as cool as youwould like it to be, I can determine

what the problem is and give you solu-tions to fix it.”

The Caesar salad has homemade dress-ing and the bread is warm and crusty. My favorite dish is the Penne AllaVodka. The sauce is so yummy. Thehouse wines are great and reasonablypriced. Owner Jiske Ong greets you atthe door and she's very warm and wel-coming. Try Positano’s once and you'llkeep going back.”

The dinner menu features amazingappetizers like Clams Marechiara –baby clams sautéed in garlic, fresh basiland white wine, with a touch of mari-nara – and lightly fried Calamari tossedin a sweet and spicy cherry peppersauce. They also have Antipasti plates,Bruschetta, and Fiocchi – pasta pursesfilled with a blend of four cheeses andpears, topped with a prosciutto andbasil, served in a rosemary butter sauce.

The house and Caesar salads atPositano’s are also a wonderful way tostart off your meal. The house salad hashomemade balsamic vinaigrette tossedwith a fresh spring mix, toasted almondslivers, dried cranberries, and a sprin-kling of feta. The Caesar has just theright combination of romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, and shaved Parmesanwith a rich Caesar dressing.

As for your meal, you have a harddecision ahead of you – do you go withone of the authentic Neapolitan stylewood fired pizzas or one of their meatspecialties, such as their veal, chicken orseafood; or do you choose one of thefabulous pasta dishes, with their delec-table made-from-scratch sauces?

Harry and Jiske remodeled Posi-tano’s with the goal of creating mouth-watering pizzas, and Harry is usuallythe one manning the 800 degreewood-fired oven, so you know yourpizza will be great. Whether you wantto go with a classic Margherita, a sa-

vory Puttanesca, or one of their heartymeat or fresh vegetarian pizzas, you’retaste buds are sure to be tickled.

But then again, their veal dishes arealso a top seller at Positano’s, so maybeone of those would appease your ap-petite. Harry says the Piccata and Saltim-bocca are customer favorites. On our lastvisit we tried the Veal Positano – vealsautéed and baked with fresh spinach, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella in awhite wine prosciutto sauce with anadded touch of marinara. The flavors inthis entrée were a divine combination.

Positano’s features an extensivemenu complete with plenty of seafooddishes to tempt you, such as theShrimp Sophia – jumbo shrimp sautéedin garlic and white wine with Kalamataolives, sun-dried tomatoes, and freshbasil, and then topped with crumbledfeta. All the flavors combined togetherperfectly, and while I didn’t think I’dbe able to finish it, it was so yummy Icouldn’t leave even one bite behind.

Harry also says the pork chop withsausage stuffing and a sauce of garlic, mushrooms, and sherry is a big favoriteamong Positano’s regulars, as are themany traditional pasta dishes theyserve, like Fettuccine Alfredo, PenneAlla Vodka, Gnocchi Bolognese andEggplant Parmigiana.
