ABOUT THE EVENTCIH’s Annual London Conference brings together housing professionals from across the capital to drive discussion and debate on current issues affecting the industry and give you the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with your peers.

This two day event will offer a rich and varied programme that will explore the complexity of issues impacting housing in London, aiming to uncover potential solutions and explore innovative ways of working. You will hear from high quality speakers addressing the big issues through keynote presentations. You will also have an exciting menu of masterclass options to choose from.

THE CONFERENCE IN CONTEXTWhile the country is in the grip of an unprecedented housing crisis, this is perhaps at its most acute in London. According to London Councils there are 800,000 people on waiting lists for council and housing association homes, an increase of nearly 84% in the last 10 years. With house prices at 61% higher than the national average it is clear why reports on the UK housing crisis often focus on the overheated market in London. This event will examine where London’s most unaffordable areas are and tackle myths that the whole of London is unaffordable. It will also explore the products that are available for the squeezed middle, looking at how helpful they are and how they could be improved to increase housing options and enable people to access the homes they need.

As the general election approaches, public opinion plays an important role in ensuring that social housing remains a priority manifesto issue for all parties. Housing providers are campaigning to raise the profile of social housing in the run up to the election and you will hear about the latest trends and what they mean for you and your business.

The GLA has released 210 football pitches worth of land since 2012, boosting construction to the tune of £3.6 billion. Speakers will examine the success of regeneration in London and explore what lessons have been learnt from past projects to ensure London is fit for the future. You will also find out about the latest government strategies to reduce planning restrictions and to meet the number of homes required.

Masterclasses will give you the chance to discuss topics including tenancy fraud, asset management, and improving the private rented sector. You will have the opportunity to participate in a selection of study tours including one showcasing the community investment programme at Kings Cross and another demonstrating how housing and health initiatives have helped improve the lives of residents in Camden and Islington. We are also offering an interactive surgery, giving you the opportunity to work through your organisation’s workforce skills issues with an experienced facilitator. So come armed with your problems, queries and ideas!

1. Gain an in-depth understanding of what is currently happening in the London housing market

2. Hear what the latest plans for London are and how housing fits into them

3. Hear predictions for the challenges that lie ahead and what leadership skills will be required to overcome them

4. Share workable solutions to the issues you and your peers are facing with networking opportunities

5. Network with over 100 housing professionals working across London
