We raised money for Autism Walks with the Puzzle Piece Contest, garage sale, and walking. Sweat not Sweets Collection brought in many warm clothes that were given to a high poverty school in our county. Bags of Hope received well over 75 blankets for the Santa Relief Caravan. They also received books too. Baked goods sales at the Wekiva Fun Run went to Relay for Life. Koala MusicKidz performed for the Florida Living Center. All of these acts of kindness show our children the importance of community service; a great lesson in life. The Winter Concert performed by the MusicKidz and Ms. Kranz gave three fabulous performances here at school. All of the students in the chorus and instrumental ensemble showed off their talents. Practicing and oral presentation are more great lessons in life. Winter Break marks the middle of the school year. It is time to celebrate goals your child has achieved and to evaluate and set new reasonable academic goals for the remainder of the year. There are three reasons to celebrate. One is making the top scores, the next is making the greatest gains, and the last is to reach goals. I will continue to announce on our morning news (KNN) students who have made those goals. Parents, thank you for your support. Making sure your child has time for homework, plenty of sleep, support for when they struggle, and moments to celebrate success. Happy New Year! Until next time, Ms. Adamczyk Congratulations Top Ten Students from Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) Test Grade 2 – Lily McLain, Jaidan Gelinas, Anna Frabizio, Jolie Hartley, Ryan Antalek, Logan Evans, Renna Duarte, Kai Higgins, Elijah Huyck and Jack Klinger. a beginning science fair project. Student projects will be on display for an evening at school. The intention is for the event to be a showcase and not a competition, so all participants will be presented an award for completing their project. Students may work alone or in partners. Specific project guidelines will be given when your registration form is turned in. They will include steps for using the scientific method, size restrictions, do’s and don’ts, and a list of useful websites. Please contact Mrs. Gabrovic for further information.

PTA News We had a great turnout for the Scott Humston, "Pro Kids Show”. He had us all laughing. We want to thank the

dads that got up on the stage and made us laugh even more. Also, thank you for an energized Boosterthon Fun Run! Our students have received an active, positive message to Encourage, Play, Invite, and Celebrate Others through an EPIC Adventure! Thank you for helping your school through fun run pledges, and please submit any outstanding pledge dollars to your child's teacher!

TREK FOR TECH Wekiva will hold our annual TREK FOR TECH fund-raiser on Friday, February 24. This is the only fundraiser where we keep 100% of the donations. All proceeds from this walk-a-thon will be used to renew our annual online site licenses and to purchase Mimio Interactive Whiteboards for classrooms. The funds we raise this year are even more necessary due to cut-backs in our school funding during these tight economic times. Parents are invited to come out and walk during their child’s PE time. More detailed information will be sent home soon. If your business can donate prizes and/or gift certificates for our student prize drawing, please contact Mrs. Cook at 407-746-3151. Thank you for supporting technology at our school! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need some enthusiastic volunteers to help us out with our Trek for Tech fundraiser. We need people who are available to visit local area businesses to collect prize donations and gift certificates for our Trek for Tech student prize drawing. If you’re interested, please contact Mrs. Cook at 407-746-3151 or through email at [email protected]
