1 *WHITE RABBIT WRIST-EES* a tiny owl knits pattern by Stephanie Dosen These little white rabbit wrist-ees are the perfect thing to wear when falling down rabbit holes. (or jumping down them!) Owl meter: beginner-------advanced Owl level: Sizes: S, (M), (L) Larger directions in ( ) Finished measurements flat: 3” (3.25”) (3.5”) wide. When deciding on size, place hand flat on top of a tape measure and measure width of hand at the knuckles. They work best when they are quite snug. Pictured in S. Yarns used: Lace weight mohair such as: Rowan Kidsilk Haze, 25 g - 229 yds - 209 m, 70 % Mohair, 30 % silk. 1 ball Pearl (cream) No. 634 1 ball Majestic (violet/grey) No. 589 Tension/gauge: Work 26 sts to measure 4” in St stitch using US 2 or 2.75 mm needles with Lace weight mohair. Notions: A pair of US 2 (2.75 mm) needles (straight or circ) tapestry needle Tiny owl stitch dictionary: k: knit m1p: lift up the bar before the next stitch front to back and place on left needle, purl into back of stitch. p: purl RS: right side St st: stockinette/stocking stitch. k a row, purl a row. WS: wrong side Pattern notes: Wrist-ees are worked flat, bottom up and then seamed. A few people have asked me about knitting these in the round. You could knit them in the round if you like! I actually tried them both ways too. I found that with a seam, they keep a nice strong shape just a little bit better, but if you like goin’ round Alice, then feel free to jump on down that hole! Ready? Let’s go! With pearl Kidsilk Haze & US 2 needles or size needed to get gauge, cast on 38 (40) (42) stitches in a k1, p1 rib pattern, turn. Set up row: *k1, p1, repeat from * WS Join majestic haze & work stripe pattern in St st as follows: Stripe pattern: -2 rows majestic (knit a row, purl a row) -2 rows pearl (knit a row, purl a row) Don’t break yarn as you change colors between the stripes, just drag the color up the side of your work as you need it. Work stripe pattern in St st until work measures 1.5 “ and you’ve just finished a RS (knitted) majestic row. Now, work increase row on WS in majestic as follows: WS: p1, m1p, purl to one stitch before end of row, m1p, p1. Continue in St st, keeping stripe pattern correct until work measures 4.5“ and you’ve just finished a RS majestic row. WS: (with pearl) * k1, p1 rep from *. RS: (with pearl) Bind off in rib pattern. Seaming: Use mattress stitch. Seam down from the top for ½“ and stop for thumbhole. Then seam up from bottom and stop to leave 2” open for thumbhole. ~^v^~ I hope you will not get your wrist-ees dirty when you jump down rabbit holes.
