BEGINNING UKULELE & GUITAR Playing a string instrument has been an enjoyable and healing activity for the teachers of this class. Members of the class will learn two or three familiar songs each week on their instruments and be able to accompany themselves and others. No previous experience is required. Basic essentials of music will be a part of the course. Those taking the class should bring their own instruments and music stands and a 3-ring binder for music. Instructor: Jane Silver & Elaine Miller

INTERMEDIATE GUITAR This class is meant for students who know chords in several keys and want to add new strums, fnger-picking styles, and blues fills to their guitar knowledge. The class will cover Travis picking, Carter Family style, basic 12 bar blues, and Latin rhythms. Styles will be taught in association with songs played in that style. Students will learn two or three songs at each session. Essentials of music will also be a part of the course, including reading simple classical gui-tar music. Those taking the class should bring their own instru-ments and music stands and a 3-ring binder for music. Instructor: Elaine Miller

SONG-WRITING Have you ever had a tune running through your head that you wish you could write words to? Or have you written a poem you wish had a tune? This class will study songs previously written by others as part of an adventure in creating our own songs. We will discuss rhythms in words and in music, analyze songs “everybody knows”, and save some time for creating our own lyrics and tunes. Students should bring any instruments they play to class as well as a 3 ring binder. Pianos will be available. Instructor: Elaine Miller
