December 2017 Valley View Viking News From the desk of Mrs. Rhoades…... Dear Parents/Guardians: The Holiday Season is usually considered a time of giving, however we all know of families in our community that are truly in need. Here are the many ways our VVMS students, staff, parents, and community members try to help those in need. The Valley View Parent Club will be purchasing items to put together meal baskets for Valley View Families in need this season. From November 28th through December 12th our VVMS students and staff will run our annual Food Drive, with the proceeds going to the Snohomish Community Food Bank. You can send in non-perishable food items with your student to school. You can also donate by sending a check made out to the Snohomish Community Food Bank or online through the foodbank. Donations will be collected in first pe- riod classes. On behalf of our Valley View students and staff, we are grateful for your continued support of our students and everyone who works here. We are indeed lucky to have each other to rely on during this Holiday Season, and throughout the rest of the year. Community forum on human growth and development and sexual health

This year, we are in the process of an instructional resource adoption for human growth and development (5th-6th grade) and for sexual health (7th-9th grade) with target implementation date of 2018-2019. The purpose of this work is to ensure that our teachers have access to current and standards-aligned resources that they can use to deliver up-to-date, medi-cally accurate, and bias-free curriculum in human growth and development and sexual health. We would like to invite you to attend a community forum on Wednesday, November 29, from 6-7 p.m. to hear information about the process, timeline and standards alignment related to the resource adoption.
