1. GUEST CELEBRANT TODAY

We warmly welcome Rev Eric Yong as our guest celebrant this morning. Rev Eric is the Chaplain of St Andrew’s Community Hospital (SACH). He speaks multiple dialects and has a special heart for the elderly. He passionately shares his experience with pastors and lay volunteers on caring for the sick and those approaching the end of their lives. His wife Prisca also ministers to patients of SACH by playing the harp for them.

2. CLERGIES AWAY

+Vicar is away in Phnom Penh with Bishop Rennis for the Institution and Induction of Rev Tit Hieng and Rev Steven Seah as Vicars of the Rural Mission District and of CCOP respectively. Rev Steven Seah will also be installed as the 4

th Dean of Cambodia.

Next weekend, Vicar will visit the Church Camp in Kuala Lumpur briefly before leaving for his 2-week studies in the United States and will be back on 24

th June.

+Ps Martin is on annual leave from 29th

th June and he will join the church camp after

that. He will be back in the office on 11th June.

9. MYANMAR MISSION 2019

We have been invited by the Anglican Province of the Church Myanmar to conduct i) A 3 day seminar on ‘Building Spirituality‘ for the Province Men’s Association on 26 – 28 August; 30 members are expected to attend from the 8 dioceses ii) A 3 day seminar on ‘ Biblical Foundation for New Believers for the Evangelism and Mission as part of the Church Planting program from 10 -12 Sept. If you love to teach and train, please join our team of Trainers. We would have in-house sessions to familiarise you with the training materials. Please give your names to Catherine Teo of the church office and we will contact you.

SANCTUARY UPDATE

Church engaged a new Professional Engineer (PE) from RSP who are experienced

in dealings on structures of conservation projects. After detailed investigations,

the consultant recommended the changing of roof tiles and a replacement of the

wooden structure, battens and rafters, as they are 70 years old and unlikely to

last decades to come. The seven main trusses of the roof, as advised by our

engineer consultant appear not affected by termite infestation on close visual

inspection and therefore can be retained. It was further discovered that the roof

structures of both vestries and the entrance porch are extensively damaged by

termites and need to be replaced.

The PE assisted the church to obtain the necessary approvals from the authorities

and in the drafting of the tender to which 6 companies responded. We are happy

to report that the tender amount from the successful contractor is within our

budget approval granted by Diocese Development Board and our PCC. We hope

and pray there will not be any further unforeseen repair needed when we open

up the roof.

Work started on 27th May and is scheduled to take 7 to 10 weeks. When the

roofing contractor finishes his work, the contractor who did our Sanctuary M&E

and refurbishing works will re-install all AV equipment, fire protection devices and

lights to ready the Sanctuary for reopening. The AV contractor and our sound

team will need to tune and ensure the sound system will be operational when we

re-open the Sanctuary. All these works are estimated to require 4 weeks. We

hope to re-open the Sanctuary for service by the 1st week of September 2019.

There will be inconvenience for parking when work commences. With safety

being of utmost importance, we asked that members shall not enter the areas

around the Sanctuary that will be barricaded.

We pray that God will watch over the entire project, to grant alertness and

protection to our contractor and his workers as well as members, children and

guests who enter our compound during this period. May His favour be with our

church even for the timely obtaining of the licence to reopen and use the

sanctuary to which we are looking forward with great anticipation.
