STATEWIDE THEMED CAMPS

STEM Survival camp June 5-9, 2016

Would you know what to do if a zombie apocalypse were to actually happen? What about a natural disaster of epic proportions? We have just the place to learn the skills you may need. A remote camp where you can practice archery, rock climbing, orienteering, shelter making, fire making, outdoor cooking, and water purifi-cation. By the end of this week, you can be sure that no matter what situation the world may throw at you, you will come out on top. Is your child destined for big things? Teach them how to handle life’s challenges by immersing them in a safe, yet challenging environment. Using zombies and natural disasters as inspiration, campers will be pushed to cooperate and overcome. Youth will be given challenges such as rock climbing, fire making, and verbal as well as traditional judo!

Science Explorers June 26-30, 2016

Do you enjoy taking things apart? Do you like to take a close look at the world around you? Explore nature and history in central Iowa. Come and find out how local plants thrive, how birds fly, why Iowa soil is black, and how people have lived on the land. By the end of this week you will have a better understanding of how the world works. Does your child dive into problems head first, enjoy taking things apart, and learning about the what makes the clock tick? Teach them how to delve into the world around them by sending them to Science Explorers camp! Using nature, historical artifacts, and technology, campers will look at various parts of the world to gain a better understanding of the world is not merely a sum of its parts.

OUR VISION A WORLD IN WHICH YOUTH AND ADULTS LEARN, GROW, AND WORK TOGETHER AS CATALYSTS FOR POSTIVE CHANGE

This is the essence of the 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign, sponsored each year by the State 4-H Council. The campaign raises money to fund projects that benefit 4-H members throughout the state. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Iowa 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign. Last year, we exceeded our goal and raised over $30,000. We want to continue that growth and have set our goal for this year at $31,000.00 with a suggested $3.00 per member donation. We also want every county in Iowa to par-ticipate! YOU can help grow 4-H in Iowa!

The 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign helps to ensure that 4-H remains available and affordable for young people like us from across the state. 4-H’ers investments contribute to:

Providing financial assistance to help 4-H’ers attend 4-H camps or conferences.

Helping members from low-income families pay part of their annual 4-H program fee.

Funding speakers and entertainment at the State 4-H Youth Conference, keeping registration fees affordable for everyone.

Improving the Iowa 4-H Center with new equipment to enhance campers’ experiences. This year we’re hoping to help purchase new bunk bed sets for Elm Lodge.

We need your help to continue to support Iowa 4-H members with substantial funding! By supporting the Iowa 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign you are giving back to the organization that has given so much to you. With your help, we can continue to make 4-H a great experience for other members for many years to come!

Participation is easy! Donation form will be mailed to leaders, then return it along with your donation to the Extension office by May 15. This is a campaign conducted by 4-H youth for 4-H youth, and we, the Finance Committee, hope all clubs across Iowa are able to participate! Thank you for your com-mitment to 4-H!

Last year’s winners are posted on our web page. Thank you in advance for supporting the State 4-H Council Finance Committee and their efforts “to make the best better!” Wright County received two awards last year check it out on the webpage.
