A well-known performer on the UK folk scene,Benji embarks on a new solo project, reinterpreting the songs of Jimi Hendrix; strippingback the layers of guitar, the psychedelia, and theera, revealing the songs in their pure form.Remembered for his pioneering, exceptional abilityas a guitarist, on (and off) stage antics, Hendrix’slegacy extends to a wealth of great songs. Martyn is a mean guitar player who hasdeveloped a unique percussive style and apowerful show stopping voice – he has beencalled “The Welsh Springsteen”, but expect toalso see shades of John Mayer, Bruce Cockburnand Dave Matthews in his performance.

Martyn’s music is hard to categorise. Many havetried, resulting in labels such as Folk, Rock, Soul,Folk Funk and Americana; all of which somehowmiss the mark. He delivers his music and socialcommentary with the same skill as a mastercraftsman, with his lyrical stories paintingpictures that speak to all.

WELCOME

An African woman arrives in a strange country fleeingfor her life, seeking safety and asylum. Despite havingcommitted no crime she is indefinitely confined, interrogated, humiliated and abused. She witnessesthe cruelty of the authorities and their casualdisregard for an individual’s human rights. This strangecountry is England.

Krissi Bohn (Coronation Street) performs thispowerful, poetic and heart-wrenching play – bringingto life the 51 sharply etched characters who retell theexperiences of this young woman.

“Essential watching … Krissi Bohn acts to vividlyrealised and blistering perfection” ´´´´The Independent, Lynne Walker
