Year 3 Term 1 2020 Imagine, Discover, Together ‘Commitment – Nothing without Effort’ The 4C’s Courtesy Cooperation Consideration Common Sense I am showing courtesy for others when I solve disagreements by using the High5 and by listening to others when they use the High5. I am showing cooperation when I listen to my teacher and follow classroom directions. I am showing consideration when I keep the grounds, my personal belongings and school belongings tidy. I am showing common sense when I follow the rules before and after school and when using my iPad. Key Learning Areas English Maths Science HASS STEM The Arts HPE Beeware Students will be explore the text structure, language choices and visual features of the book ‘Beeware.’ Using the 7 steps of writing they will create their own short story and recreate it as a multimodal imaginative text. Spelling Mastery Students will be taught how to be confident spellers by learning dependable spelling skills at their level. Reading and Comprehension Students will be taught how to be good readers by using a variety of explicitly taught comprehension and decoding strategies in weekly reading group rotations. Quick Writes and Handwriting Students will experiment with writing through daily quick writes and handwriting practice. Assessment: Reading comprehension Written Narrative Students will be learning to: Count to 1000 Identify odd and even numbers Represent and compare 3 digit numbers Solve addition and subtraction problems Recall and solve simple multiplication problems Tell time in 5min intervals Identify 1metre as a unit of measure Record data in lists, tables and column graphs Conduct chance experiments Computational Fluency Students are explicitly taught number fact strategies including doubles, near doubles, extended facts and counting on and back by 1 or 2. Sport Students will be focusing on Dodgeball and Movement Skills. Students will aim to develop their throwing and catching skills, as well begin preparation for the schools cross country.
