Diff Lockers

Differential Lockers: A differential lockers (or diff locker) can make a significant difference in the

performance of your 4WD in certain situations. Also known as diff-lock or locker, it is a modification to the

standard automotive differential. Its purpose is to restrict each of the two wheels on an axle to the same

rotational speed regardless of the traction available to each wheel.

Portal Axles: Increased ground clearance is probably the main reason why serious off-roaders choose to

fit portal axles to their vehicles. The second reason is higher torque. Lamda’s Portal Axles reduce the

probability and frequency of vehicle breakdown.

Hydraulic Winch: Lamda’s hydraulic winch is designed especially for the heavy-duty work and helps you

overcome issues like overheating, structural damage, and struggle due to the poor vehicle electrical

system. It is free spool clutch operated by an easy action lever which disengages the gearbox to allow the

wire rope to be pulled out without using winch power. Since it does not use battery power, it can provide a

full and constant performance throughout the job.

Free Wheel Hubs: Free wheel hubs or Locking Hubs engage or disengage the front half shaft (drive shaft)

from the hub of the front wheels. This allows the 4WD to behave in the same fashion as a conventional

two-wheel drive car with only the rear wheels being ‘driven’. It is only when 4WD is selected and the hubs

set in the ‘locked’ position that the vehicle operates as a four-wheel drive – with power being applied to all

wheels. Free wheel hubs were designed to reduce friction and the amount of moving parts in four-wheel

drive vehicles. In theory, a car uses more fuel to turn the drive shafts and the extra drag created by

powering the front tyres.
