Rescue Dog Night At The Westborough
Public LibraryThe Westborough Public
Library will be hosting Peter Zheutlin, author of “Rescue Road: One Man, Thirty Thousand Dogs and a Million Miles of Last Hope Highway” on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 7 p.m. He will be joined by representatives from Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton who will talk about their mission.
“Rescue Road” is the story of Greg Mahle, who has driven more than 1 million miles to rescue thousands of dogs from hunger, abuse, and neglect and given them a second chance at life and love. Peter traveled over 7,000 miles with Greg from Ohio to the Gulf of Mexico on his Rescue Road trips to bring hard luck dogs from the deep south to loving “forever families” up north, with the help of many self-less volunteers along the way.
To help celebrate Rescue Dog Night at the library, we would like to invite people to send us a picture of their rescue dog(s) and the picture will become part of a bulletin board display. Please
include as much of the follow-ing information as you can: your dog’s name, date rescued, the rescue organization you used, breed, and what your dog’s favorite toy is. Send the picture and information to [email protected] with the subject line, Rescue Dogs. The bulletin board display will showcase all the amazing dogs that have been res-cued by “forever families”.
The library will also be col-lecting donations of pet supplies for Baypath Humane Society. You can check out their wish list at www.baypathhumane.org/wishlist
Copies of “Rescue Road” will be available for purchase and autographing and a portion of all proceeds from the sale of the books will go to support Greg Mahle’s Rescue Road trips!
Come and join us for this amazing event and don’t forget to send us pictures of your rescue dogs and bring along any pet supply donations for Baypath. For more information, please call the library at 508-366-3050.

The Best Of The NECCC Prints
On Wednesday, November 4, the Assabet Valley Camera Club (AVCC) will host a pro-gram showing all the color and the black-and-white prints that received medals and awards at last summer’s yearly New England Camera Club Council Conference (NECCC). These winners—approximately 35 prints covering a huge variety of subjects and techniques—will be on display, allowing for close viewing and lively comments. Attendees will not only learn what the judges said about the images, but they can also partici-pate in discussions and critiques.
Art Vaughan is the present-er. He has an extensive pho-tographic pedigree: honorary life member of the Merrimack Valley Camera Club; currently a member of the Massachusetts Camera Naturalists and the Photographic Historical Society of New England; and Vice President and Master Member of the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). For decades, Art worked in various photo-graphic fields for Bell Labs, Lucent, AT&T, and other high-

Sudoku
Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
Fun By The NumbersLike puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

This program is free and open to the general public. AVCC welcomes both new and prospec-tive members—anyone interest-ed in photography or in enhanc-ing photographic skills. We meet at 7:30 PM the first and third Wednesdays of the month from now through June at the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson. Styrofoam block*May use 8 oz. white candy melts
with oil based candy color to achieve desired color (purple for One Eyed Purple Monster; orange for Pumpkin)
DirectionsProcess popcorn in food processor
until coarsely chopped.Crumble cake into large bowl. Add
popcorn and frosting, stirring with fork until mixture is evenly moist-ened.

Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheet; freeze 20 minutes.
Melt candy melts according to package directions. If using white, stir in vegetable oil. Color as desired using candy color.
Remove popcorn cake balls from freezer. Dip tips of lollipop sticks into candy melts; insert no more than halfway into center of balls. Let sit 3 minutes until set.
Dip one ball into melted candy melts to cover completely. Gently tap stick against side of bowl so excess melts drips off. Immediately decorate as desired (candy melts harden quickly). **
Poke sticks into Styrofoam block to dry completely.
**To Decorate: Use white candy melts for ghost (pumpkins/orange, one-eyed purple monsters/purple); miniature chocolate chips for eyes and mouth; shape small piece of chewy chocolate candy for pumpkin stem and attach with candy melt; spread melted white candy melts in center of ball to create monster eye, use blue gel for iris, red gel for veins.
