77 The hugh Kilmer Trophy The Hugh Kilmer Trophy was given in his memory to the Storm Trysail Club by his many shipmates and friends who appreciated his great love of the sea and of the Club which he so ably helped to revitalize after the Second World War. The Trophy will be awarded at the sole discretion of the Flag Officers and Board to a member who has, during the then current year, performed some noteworthy feat which has reflected honor upon the Club. The recipient of the award is to hold the Trophy for one year, or until notified by the Club secretary that it should be returned to be re-awarded. 1967—Everett B. Morris 1968—S.K. BOOMERANG TROPHY

In recognition of long time Storm Trysail member George Coumantaros’s Bermuda Race accomplishment of capturing line honors on four occasions, spanning twenty six consecutive races, the “Boomerang Trophy” has been established through generous donations from past shipmates, friends and competitors. It will be awarded at the Storm Trysail Club annual dinner, (in January, immediately following the biennial event), to that STC member who as captain, has the best elapsed time while competing in the St. David’s Lighthouse Division (non-professional / non-experimental) of the Newport Bermuda Race.

RICHARD M. STIMSON OFFSHORE NAVIGATION TROPHY

The Richard M. Stimson Award for Offshore Navigation was presented to the Storm Trysail Club in 2003. To qualify for the award, an STC member must navigate on a yacht (or yachts) with the best-combined fleet positions from among the races entered. The Stimson Perpetual Trophy is a brass sextant in a brass-trimmed teak box donated by Dick’s STC friends and shipmates. The “keeper” trophy is a gimbaled brass timepiece in a mahogany case donated by Weems and Plath.
