Welcome...

At Tiffi n University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic pro-grams have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual ac-colades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study con-ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffi n Uni-versity in the last fi ve years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we compete at the NCAA Division II level and in the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confi dent the future will also be highly successful for Tiffi n University athletics.

- Lonny Allen Athletic Director

Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffi n University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffi n University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fi tness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. We are especially proud of the high standards of conduct displayed by our coaches and players on and off the fi eld.

Experienced Dragons Look to Move Up

With four starters among the seven returning letterwinners, the Tiffi n University men’s basketball team looks to use that experience to continue its improvement.

In 2010-11, the Dragons went 6-13 in the GLIAC and 8-18 overall. That was more wins than they had won in the last three years combined. There was a sense of what could have been as seven of their losses were by a total of 21 points.

Leading the way are the top two scorers from last year, senior Karl Finley and sophomore Joe Graessle. Finley averaged 14.6 points a game while shooting 39.5% from behind the arc and 75.2% from the line. Graessle averaged 14.2 points and 2.7 assists per game while hitting 75 three-pointers. He was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year and earned NCAA Division II Bulletin Freshman All-America honors.

Joining those two as returning starters are seniors Keenan Barlow and Travis Spahr. Barlow averaged 8.2 points while Spahr had 10.2 points and 6.7 rebounds a game and shot 50.3% from the fl oor. Senior Brandon Harris is already the third leading shot blocker in school history with 100 in just two

seasons. TU also has returning letterwinners back in sophomore Mike Brown and junior Isaiah Twine.

The Dragons look to incoming freshmen Michael Bouley, Andrew Bendolph and Iman Johnson to be the key newcomers.

Bouley, a graduate of Cincinnati Glen Este High School (Ohio), was named the Fort Ancient Valley Conference East Division Co-Player of the year as a senior. He averaged 12.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and blocked 4.8 shots a game. Bouley blocked 158 shots during his career and led the Trojans to a record of 31-10 over his last two seasons.

Bendolph, a graduate of Portsmouth High School (Ohio), led the Trojans to the Division 3 state semi-fi nals as a senior for the fi rst time in 21 years. He averaged 13.4 points and shot 53.4% from the fl oor, earning All-Ohio Division 3 Special Mention All-State honors.

Johnson, a graduate of Dominican High School (Whitefi sh Bay, Wis.), was a two-time All-Midwest Classic Conference fi rst team selection. The Knights won three Division 3 regional championships and a total of 62 games during his three-year career.

The Gillmor Student Center has been the home arena for Tiffi n University basketball since the 1988-89 season - and, like the saying goes, there’s no place like home. Since the basket-ball team began playing its games in the Gillmor Center, the Dragons have compiled an overall record of 180 wins and 116 losses. In the 22-year history of the center, TU has only had nine losing seasons on the fl oor. The Dragons have a winning percentage of .608 in the Gillmor Center, including a 72-12 record between 1988-1993. In addition to the main auditorium, the building also contains over 17 offi ces, shower and locker rooms, a training room, a bookstore, a media conference room, a Student Activities room, the Student Affairs offi ces, the Channel 10 broadcast center, the Tiffi n University Hall of Fame, and Trophy Gallery. A complete renovation of the Gillmor Center was recently completed. The Dining Commons, the Osceola Theater, a student lounge, expanded recreation room, numerous new offi ces, and expanded parking areas are just a few of the new renova-tions. The complex nearly tripled in size and has grown to service even more of the Tiffi n University community.

The Gillmor Student Center

Share the Pride, Build on Traditionis a $12 million comprehensive campaign designed to create endowed student scholarships, construct the new recreation center, and make other campus improvements. These enhancements, coupled with recent investments in new student apartments, the Tiffi n University Nature Preserve, Paradiso Athletic Complex, and the Miami Street Improvement Project, will result in a total investmentby Tiffi n University of more than $30 million in the Tiffi n community.

Campaign ObjectivesRecreation Center$9,400,000The Recreation Center will consist of two connected buildings: a fi eld house and an indoor practice facility. The connector will include a lobby and locker room facilities.

Other Campus Development$1,600,000Over the past several decades, TU has created a campus that not only refl ects the University’s own growth and success, but also en-hances the appearance and economic well being of the City of Tiffi n. To continue pursuing the campus master plan, TU seeks $1.6 million for land acquisition, landscaping, parking and others amenities.

Endowed Student Scholarships$1,000,000Without fi nancial aid, many Tiffi n University students could not afford higher education. Since over 80 percent of TU students receive some level of aid, TU leaders seek $1 million to bolster the endowment resources of the University to create additionalstudent scholarships.
