JOHN BRADYHEAD COACHFIFTH YEAR

A proven winner in the collegiatecoaching ranks, John Brady’s vi-sion of taking the Arkansas State

men’s basketball program to the highestcompetitive level nationally has made thetwo entities a perfect match.

Brady has certainly become accustomedto success throughout his distinguishedcoaching career as evidenced by a FinalFour appearance and 295 career victoriesto his credit.

A new era in ASU men’s basketball his-tory began on March 19, 2008 when Bradywas announced as the Red Wolves’ 15thhead coach in the program’s history. ForBrady, the appointment was one herelishes.

“I am excited about the opportunity tolead the Arkansas State men’s basketballprogram to a position I feel like it deservesin the Sun Belt Conference,” said Brady.“Our goal is not only to play for conferencechampionships, but to advance to theNCAA Tournament. This has always beenconsidered a great basketball communityand region that will support this basketballprogram in a big way. Not only is it our goalto win championships, but to lead the SunBelt Conference in attendance because ofthe great fans this University has. We areexcited about it and look forward to the op-portunities that are ahead.”

Brady wasted little time making a posi-tive impact on the A-State program as inhis initial three years at the helm, he turnedthe Red Wolves into a success story on thecourt by capturing a share of the Sun BeltConference’s Western Division Champi-onship title in 2010-11 along with compil-ing double-digit SBC wins back-to-back forthe first time in nearly 20 years and going

undefeated at home with a 13-0 record.

During his first season with the RedWolves, Brady helped lead ASU to one ofthe best starts in program history andachieved the No. 22 ranking onCollegeinsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25poll. As a team, A-State greatly improvedupon its defending and reboundingnumbers, finishing near the top of theconference in several statistical categories.

Brady would take the Red Wolves a stepfurther in his second season (2009-10), im-proving their record to 17-14 while makinga Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semi-final appearance and finishing second inthe SBC’s West Division. For his efforts,Brady was named Sun Belt Coach of theYear and the District VII Coach of the Yearby the USBWA. ASU also claim top leaguehonors in three-point field-goal defense, re-bounding offense, and defensive rebound-ing in 2009-10.

For the 2009-10 season, A-State regis-tered an 11-7 SBC record which signifiedits best conference mark since the 2006-07 campaign when ASU achieved an iden-tical league mark. A-State’s 11 winsrepresented the seventh time in which theRed Wolves compiled a double-digitleague victories total since joining the SunBelt. ASU would then duplicate its SBCwins in the 2010-11 season by finishingwith an 11-5 conference ledger.

Prior to Arkansas State, Brady spent 10-plus seasons serving as LSU’s headcoach. During his tenure at the school,Brady guided the Tigers to six postseasonberths, two Southeastern Conference(SEC) Championship crowns and threeSEC Western Division titles. With his suc-cess, Brady was tabbed as the SEC Coach
